I just done my mod 2 - rolled back on the hill start but passed
First bit is right on what procedure to pull over.
Then Cancel indicator as soon as you pull over, observation (check for cars) signal to the right, lifesaver then pull off, cancel signal, check mirrors and off you pop. Only signal when is clear and safe to go.
Good luck mate |

timtomtam please pull over and stop in a safe position
# Locate a safe position
# Reduce speed
# Mirror, signal, life saver and pull into the spot
# Pull the clutch in, right foot covering the rear brake and left foot on the floor.
# When instructed to move off, get yourself into first with the olde left foot / right foot dance.
# Mirror, indicate, life saver and pull away CANCEL THE INDICATOR
-----
Something like that, but you already knew this.
Practice makes perfect, So go find a steep hill within 5/10 minutes of the test centre and practice
Just make sure you find yourself a Safe spot, don't panic and dive into the first spot you see. Also if you not confident with the biting point of the clutch and worried you'll roll back, simple trick to know when the engine has got you.
With your foot still on the rear brake, rev the engine and slowly release the clutch. When the rev counter needle begins to drop, you can happily remove the rear brake slowly safely in the knowledge the engine will hold you.
Good luck |

To be honest it won't make much difference usually, but always try and do the mirror and signal BEFORE slowing down. Just remember the OSM/PSL routine

Again I would advise staying in first when you stop, unless the examiner tells you to put it in neutral, this will avoid the 'dance'.
Don't over worry or complicate things, you will not fail if the bike rolls back a little, as long as you do not lose control

All good, pull away, cancel the right indicator, then cancel it again. Then change up to second and cancel it again. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Shall post when I pass (positive thinking ) hopefully!

I remember sitting my MOD2, didnt even realise i had to to a hill start as i was self trained and didnt look into it that much.
Remember thinking "random place to stop on a hill" when asked to pull over. Had never done a test worthy hill start before but it was easy enough.
Just follow the usual procedure for pulling to the side of the road.
Good luck! ____________________ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1OPv5mDPQ14

Bah... I did this on my first Mod 2 back in November, got the times mixed up, could've swore I had booked a late afternoon slot and I checked about midday as I was getting ready and it was for 20 to 9 in the morning Shit happens.
Plus point is if you ring up the DSA you should be able to get a new date at short notice as you do not have to wait 10 days as if you have failed the test as it hadn't gone ahead. So you should get a test slot almost immediately, depending on availability of course. Doubt very much that you get in before Saturday's deadline unfortunately ____________________ Honda CB500s (1999) - Honda CG 125 BR-J (1991)

Just was sure it was a Thursday, had it on the phone and everything! Ah well, next slot is the 27th Feb!
But yes, I made a mistake, got a mate to book his test now with me on the same day, so works out well I guess!
The plus side is the UK laws do not affect me, I am from Jersey, Channel Islands!
So it is structured differently:
Category P
Typical Moped test, 50cc etc etc,
Category A1
120cc - 125cc - You need a CBT, theory and JUST a module 2 to get the full liscense
After a year of having an A1 license, you can do a full A license, which requires a minimum of 240cc (I think) which you do a Mod 1 and 2. If you pass that, you are full unrestricted.
But yes, all bow down to High Emperor dim |

Tried any other test centres over the phone, if you try to use the internet booking service it will assume you have failed and show slots after the normal 10 day waiting period. Ring up and you should get a closer date as I said you hadn't failed and don't have to worry about the 10 day cooling-off period
Also weird licencing laws on the Channel Islands, guess it makes sense that they are structured differently to the mainland as they are pretty much free to govern themselves Will the isles become a haven for new bikers I wonder ____________________ Honda CB500s (1999) - Honda CG 125 BR-J (1991)
