If you're not trolling then you're headed for a shitload of points or a very serious accident if you carry on the way you are.

Based on your past endeavours at DIY mechanics, get it done professionally.

For my Daelim I have done 16700 miles on the ones what came with it they look bald but no sign of the metal bits coming through yet like they did on my R6 back tyre.

The handling does feel awful especially in the wet but how safe are they?

They're not dangerous until the cord is showing all the way around the tyre.

You probably won't be standing.

More like face down in the gutter with a broken nose. Very Happy

On a separate note is that your skirt in your avatar snap with you.? Shocked

That's one of those scooters that folds up that yuppies used to ride around Holborn, right? One of those where the brake is a metal plate over the back wheel that you stand on.

I wouldn't worry about it, the tyres are transparent solid rubber and never had any tread on them to begin with. When you hear a grinding noise it means you're down to the rims. Just pop into Argos and get a new scooter.

If your question is actually serious...

Is there at least 1mm of tread on both tyres? Yes... you're legal. No... you're illegal.

Will <1mm kill you? Not immediately no, but it'll wear down to nothing in no time but not evenly. There will be patches that are balder than others and when one of those hits a wet patch you'll bowl your bike down the road before you realise what's going on. The longer you leave it, the greater the risk.

You'll get 3 points per illegal tyre if you're pulled over. Though I'd be amazed if you had a licence to have 6 points put on.

So use a rubber.! New ones. Thumbs Up (see what I did there.? Brought it back on topic with a ref to new rubber. Wink )

Tread levels won't affect the handling in the dry. In the wet with no tread you'll skitter all over the place and throw the bike at the ground. But in the dry, technically, slick rubber is the best because you have the greatest surface area touching the ground (best grip) hence slick tyres on F1 cars.

If your handling is bad check your tyre pressures. If they're low the bike will handle dreadfully. Not got a pressure gauge? Then pop into Halfords and get one, and get a tread gauge while you're in there.

The handling may be bad if you've squared off the tyres... it'll drop less readily into corners and it'll be like riding on a knife edge when you're leaning it.

Ropey suspension is also a reason for bad handling. If your forks are leaking then that could easily be a factor yes. But pumping up your tyres is much cheaper.

You often need to put air in your tyres in the winter as the cold weather causes air to contract so the pressure goes down. In a car it doesn't make too much difference. On a bike it really does.
