Hi,
I am in the middle of DAS training and looking to buy a 600. I have a few restrictions, the main one is that I'm a stumpy rider, have tiny hands so need a clutch which doesn't take a body builder to pull in and I don't want to lie over the tank as "the ladies" would get in the way, ha ha!

Anyway, having looked at an ER6, an SV650, a Gladius and a Pegaso, I sat on a GSR and it felt right.

Anybody owned one and what do you guys think?

Sharon

Hi Steve

I meant to put GSR but had a dyslexic moment sorry!

The GSR felt right in every aspect, and I love the looks, particularly the rear end.

Why anyone would buy one over a Hornet or Street Triple is beyond me, but I'm sure they're fine.

Before I do actually buy the GSR I will look at the Hornet, Bandit and The CBF to compare, and I do appreciate your advice.

If I get a little Bandit, me and my husband will look like "Howard and Hilda" as he's got the 1250 bandit!

Seating position pitches you over the bars a fair bit more than the bandit. The GSR is lighter and much faster I wouldn't compare it to a Bandit at all its rivals are the Hornet and the Fazer imo.
The retuned gsxr engine is a peach it can be a little snatchy below 5,000 rpm other than that its all good very satisfying rush over 10.000 rpm. Its a fun little bike that can be had relatively cheap due to it never really catching on.

Have a look at the Street Triple, and the Z600/Z750 aswell - more powerful bikes, yeah, perhaps not ideal for a first bike but aslong as you don't go nuts... They're better bikes.

The GSR is a fun bike. GSXR600 ( think its a K4) engine, light and nimble.

Feels nicer than a hornet of the same era. Not very popular due to the styling, but i do like the back end on them.

The Z750 is another one to look at. Although im not sure if the seat might be a tad high for you. I'm 6'4 and mine feels quite high.

If you're finding little fingers are getting caught in the levers (like I did), consider changing the standard levers for a set of 'shorties' like these. (I personally use ASV ones so would recommend them).

I have weeny hands too and was finding my little finger was getting trapped (something both my examiner and instructor picked up on) and was warned it might cause trouble. Shorty levers are really meant to be used with like 2 fingers for them normal sized folks, but I can use 4 fingers easily and keep my little finger safely tucked on the grip without worry it will get trapped behind a lever as the lever isn't long enough to cover/trap it.

The bikes you're looking at are generally good choices. But if the GSR is the one that FEELS right, chances are that's the one for you Smile I sat on EVERYTHING when I was looking for my big bike. It wasn't until I tried my XJ that I instantly felt 'right'. Just like Goldilocks!
