Hello all,

thought i might as well start a little thread here as i can just update it as and when with cool shit (IMO!) that i've been upto.

So my biking adventure started something like this....

05/02/2013 - Had a thought to want to start motorcycling, booked CBT

07/02/2013 - Went for a look at what i might get after my CBT, walked out of Blade Honda Abingdon the noob owner of a 61 plate Honda CBF 125! oh and a load of protective gear!

08/02/2013 - Did CBT at Lightning in Oxford, loved it!

09/02/2013 - Went back to do some training on a geared bike at Lightning, also had a bash at riding a 500, loved it, booked 4 day DAS course!

13/02/2013 - Picked up my steed! wobbled around abingdon for a bit

20/02/2013 - Revised for Theory on train to Test, somehow passed (48/50) despite being blissfully unaware of how the Hazard perception (68/75) worked! Thank god for the video explaining it.

So there we have it, thats me upto date, guess i'll update as and when things happen

I had the GIVI topbox put on by the dealer as its pretty useful for me being able to put my lid in there when i leave it places, Also today i bought some Oxford hotgrips which i'll get round to having fitted early next week! Cant wait, its bloooody freezing!

So yeah, thats me, Hello and thanks for all the good stuff i've learnt from these forums so far!

Wow...that's a short time-scale! Is it something you've been thinking about for a while, or just an impulse thing?

What are you going to use the bike for? Commuting to college/uni/work or just weekend fun?

Forum is called show and tell though. So pictures please! Very Happy

Here's one from when I bought it.

https://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/randomjord/5AFD371B-F5D2-4B7A-8FC9-F1738E4D5824-958-0000008CC81A41C8_zps561f57cf.jpg

And one in the sun!

https://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b164/randomjord/B64498E6-0A18-4D89-9025-F1C39180E10A-800-0000006BA281DA9C_zps0c96d068.jpg

Its something ive always wanted to do but for one reason or another not done, but then i just thought, balls to it, i want to ride a motorbike!

Officially it's purpose is to be used for getting me to and from the station (28, far too old for uni and college!) and skipping the parking charges which just seem to be on the up and up! But to be honest I use it all the time since I've had it, runs to tescos, the office, all done on the wee bike!

I just really enjoy it.

Ultimate plan is, pass tests, keep CBF as runabout, buy a proper commuter for long trek commuting, And a Harley v-rod for fun!

So hopefully I won't balls up the practicals!

That is a pretty short timescale between deciding you would like a bike and getting one - but hey, why wait around!

Also, admitting to liking the look of and even wanting to own a harley davidson (or any cruiser really) on this forum is highly inadvisable.

Yeah, I don't hang about in things once I get an idea.

That pile of mud in my pic was an old garage the other week. Then I decided a bugger one was needed do its been knocked down and going to build another one to accomadate the increasing fleet. That's the kind of timescales I operate on.

An yeah, I got the 'anti-cruiser/Harley' vibe, hey Ho, each to their own an all that!

My mate had a v rod, when he told me he hit 110 in 3rd i got worried.
It might say Harley on it, but it's not a Harley!
There aren't many bikes that will hit 200mph, but that's one of them.

Almost exactly the same for me, went pilly on my Uncle's GSXR end of August, then ....
Theory Test Passed 03/09/2012
Brand New 62 Plate CBF 125 ordered 08/09/2012
CBT Test 11/09/2012
New CBF125 Collected 12/09/2012
Module 1 Test Passed 01/10/2012
Module 2 Test Passed 29/10/2012

Only thing I would've done different is not buy a brand new CBF, but the deal was awesome. I still use the thing everyday and I actually hate taking my car, even though it's a nice comfortable, powerful car. London suburbs commute makes it expensive to run and difficult to get to work. Fastest ever time in my car to work was about 25 minutes early in a morning and erm moving swiftly .... average is 40-45 depending on traffic. On my bike I routinely do 25-30 minutes regardless of conditions. That's a combination of slow traffic dodging, 50mph dual carriageway. I want a plaything but 120Mpg every fillup is saving me so much money right now!

I love my CBF, as a commuter it's only beaten by a Varadero IMO in the 125 class anyway.

That's it isn't it, saves time and money

It used to be the bloke with the biggest bhp had boasting rights, now it's the guy with the highest mpg! An not many things can compete with the cbf125's.

And can't blame you for buying new, the deals are strong as!

Had my heated grips fitted today!

Hooooraaay..::.actually no, I dislike them greatly, they feel wrong and their about 12mm to short each side which IMO makes them look gash.

And the heats uneven

Totally gay

Want my crappy old cold grips back!

Anyone want some Oxford premium hot grips? Very light use!

I hope this is a joke.

They have 122HP and weigh 310KG.

They top out at about 145.

110kmh in 3rd seems more likely. About 65mph.

He might be getting confused with a Yam Vmax?

OP, i was similar to you with the impulse thing...

Did CBT on 23rd Oct.

Did DAS 12th-15th Nov

Mod1 & Mod 2(passed both) 16th Nov.

So from taking my CBT to getting my full licence was 3 weeks. Very Happy

Best way to be innit! no point hanging around on it, if i'd have kept to my original plan of doing the CBT and knocking around for year then doing tests i undoubtedly have picked up bad habits and made the test harder for myself.

Can you still do both Mods on the same day?

As far as i know? I had my Mod 1 at 930 and Mod 2 at 1130, it does put you under a bit of pressure cos obviously if you fail your Mod 1 you can't take your Mod 2 and you lose your £75 fee, but that's the risk you take.

Hell yes! Toasty warm all summer long.

Really regret the heated grips, they suck. Apart from late night freezing rides
