Lots of carbon fibre. I think that's what it is. Looks like the unholy spawn of a cafe racer and a superbike. My back also aches just looking at those pegs and dropped bars.

You know... I actually quite like that. Thinking

I understand that monoshocks revolutionarised offroad biking by allowing more travel, but that not an offroad bike.

Yes, the headlamp is trolololol, yes it's an idealised mock up missing cables and such.

But it looks something like a ridable - if not a comfortable - bike, and it's clean and unfussy.

I wouldn't ride it, mind. Wink

I appreciate the 'bobber' concept.
It made good sense for the people that first did it.
If they could, they would have probably DECREASED the fork rake to tighten up handling.
So this is seems to be a modern day bobber; form over function. Which is basically for fa... those people.

I wasn't expecting that, I thought it would look more like a typical sportsbike.

I Can't make my mind up on wether I like it or not, it's certainly different.

Note that it's not made by Lotus, just 'licensed'.

Just like you can get a 'Ferrari Scuderia' ... folding push bike if you hand £800 over Laughing.

It's...... Different I will give it that, I'm not one for sports bikes but I do quite like the look of it. Be interesting to see the bike once it's been built, and if it still looks like that or no.

I like it ... It's definitely different.

But 200bhp on a set of twin shocks must be pretty scary! That rules corners out so bit of a dragster i guess.

Erm, maybe because it seems to have very little to do with a sportsbike apart from someone paying MCN to use the word 'superbike'?
It's a 'bobber' from what I can see.

Yea fair point G, my fault for not reading it properly.
I'm new to the biking world and I'm not having a dig I thought bobber was just another name for a cruiser type bike. I do t really have a clue on that front it was just my assumption.

Lotus are running at a massive loss at the moment. The last thing they'll be doing is paying for a random halo product. We're more likely to see this come on sale with Amstrad on the tank than Lotus.

As above.
I presume some place that makes custom tat is paying Lotus a chunk of money to use their name. I get a bit lost when it comes to the F1 team, but just having the same name can't hurt either.

Originally bobbers were American bikes which Americans had stripped down to try and get nearer to the performance of a lighter Brit or similar bike. So, mudguards/unrequired subframe removed (tick), fairly minimalist generally (tick).
These days it does tend to just mean a slightly different style of 'custom'.

It looks like it could have started out well, until somebody fitted it with the engine casing from a 747...

It's neither here nor there.
A naked bike with a fairing!
Cruiser geometry with sportsbike riding position!
Loads of carbon but still looks like a lardy lump!

What's the point?
They seem to have morphed the worst aspects from two different styles of bike, and produced a baby elephant, that's going to struggle to find anything but lazy handling!
Thumbs Down

It is MCN. Now taking odds on next week's headline.

"Lotus shelves plans for Superbike" evens

"Lotus bike available in 2015, we show you more exclusive pictures (that are actually nicked from google images, but shhh!) - 3/1

"Lorenzo to ride for Lotus in 2015" 300/1

"Insider info on Lotus and why it'll never make production" - 10/1

If it doesn't use the omnivore engine, then I'm not interested. Sad
