https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190806447505

The Mrs had a go on a scooter at the weekend and got on with it a lot better than the CBF, she is keen to commute into London but stop/start on a manual doesn't thrill her.

So we had a look and this appeared first thing Monday morning, she fell in love with the colour. For the price I thought I'd give it a punt, I know it's a chinky but it was in quite good condition for the money. Already have a complete set of forks alongside me with shockers etc. for £30. As Jezza would say "What's the worst that can happen?".

Hopefully, forks, mudgard and tidy up/service and through MOT. It's never had an MOT it's only just 3 years old. No sign of it falling to pieces, only obvious rust was on the shiny chrome handlebars, even the clocks which I've seen in horrific condition are gleaming.

No write off etc. (I checked) as per the ad was still being used until 1st March when it had to be MOT'd. No reason to suspect any different. Engine was near silent when running, which it did from cold.

As far as we are concerned, we will NEVER get the money back we have paid for this and parts, but if it's usable we are happy. Hopefully £250 total (including purchase) will see it on the road for a year!

Anyone had much experience with these? Or own up to having any Very Happy

That thing looks like it has a trailing link fork.

Where did that idea pop back back up from?

They're excellent for carrying the kids around:

The seat fastens on easily with cable ties.

Left early and got to the garage at 2:30. Difficult to ride round the car park. Could see it was a bit askew. Just finished putting it back together and ridden round the car park. It's perfect. Easiest job I've ever done.

I worked on one of these a couple of years back. I'm pretty sure it's Chinese made and the plastics feel very tacky. I don't recall what I had to do to it but it I know I didn't spend much time repairing it. I still see it about quite often. The owner is a local teacher that travels about 4 miles each way to and from school and has done so for years so I think it has been quite reliable for him. Unless of course he has taken it elsewhere for repairs over the years!

Oh it's Chinese alright, but I'm a little surprised at how good it is. Yeah it's all flimsy plastic, and it's a bit quirky. But £125 + £30 forks and just spent £50 for new mudgard and service parts. If it goes through an MOT ok I'll be ecstatic!

Rear brake doesn't feel brilliant, but it's a drum and then non-hydarulic lever makes it feel odd to me anyway. I think it needs adjusting, as it doesn't really have any bite.

Alarm works, all electrics seem ok. Found a wire going to the alarm under the front cover marked EARTH and this is currently loose under it's 'securing' screw. Very Happy

Other than that, quite happy. Thumbs Up

Apparently this is what it actually is, or who makes them anyway.

AKA Lexmoto Tommy amongst others.

worst case, take the seat off and turn it into an ornimental planter.

but for the price you cant fault it, infact most chinese bikes are good value IF you can keep em running for 3 yrs they will have paid for themselves

good luck with it and hope your missus enjoys it, just get her AA cover or similar with recovery

It's probably enough to fool 80% of the population.

The child seat is genuinely held on with cable ties though. I saw it one day when I was leaving the dentist. I was probably gobsmacked but I wouldn't have been able to feel it at the time. I had to take a photo so I could convince myself the anaesthetic hadn't made me imagine it.

I will only JUST feel happy about letting my wife use it, let alone pilly a kid even properly, but a seat like that. It's suicide. Surely it must be a joke.

Ok - I karma'd that as funny. But now you're telling me it's a real actual thing. Which means I now have to bum Jeremy Kyle. THANKS A LOT.

So after getting everything together I took it in for MOT on Monday, never done a bike MOT so stood and watched. It failed, he failed because a nut was loose on the brake lever, didn't notice. Because my seat didn't latch properly and because both tyres had perished valve rubbers.

Was a bit fed up, but chuffed that everything was fine with the front end I'd replaced and the foot pegs I bodged (the footpeg was off a slightly different model and the footpeg wouldn't slide on, so had to drill it out and then hammer on). The nut was silly as it could've been nipped, the seat thing didn't think was a fail and the tyres although a pain seemed to be a fair cop.

Went to my local guy, where I should've gone in the first place and asked what do I do? He said bungie cord the seat down, I'll do the valves cheap and should be good.

Took it in next day, did the tyres/valves and passed it with my seat bungie corded down. Chuffed to bits and the wife things it's the best thing ever.

Should've mentioned, in true "Wheeler Dealers" style, blew the budget slightly. Including TAX&MOT, we bought this and put it on the road for a smidge over £300. Not bad for a £125 impulse buy. It's going to need TLC but we are happy with that. Going to change the oil again this weekend as the tar I extracted out of it when I got it didn't look nice. So it needs another flush now it's been run around.

Petrol tank is tiny, the 50&125 seem to run the exact same platform, so it's got about 6 litre tank. Which we ran out of fuel last night as we thought the fuel gauge wasn't working, it was! Embarassed

All good though, she's happy, just need to find me a big bike.
