 |
|
Hello chaps, I think I've narrowed down the squeaking on the zzr to the water pump, however, is it normal for an intermittent squeak before they let go? It does it LOUD when it's cold, then almost nothing when It's warm.
Is it worth taking it apart? If I take the reservoir cap off water is still being jetted in. However on idle I could quite happily leave the lid off and no water would spray out. Only when I rev. Surely they're supposed to be under more pressure than this?
What's there to make a noise inside it anyway? Pretty sure it's not belt driven? ____________________ KAWASAKIIIII |

Can you remove the whole pump assy? If the impeller isn't coming out freely, it's not supposed to and will be held in from behind. You may even find that it's a sealed unit ____________________ Space Is Deep |

Just had a look at one on eGay and it looks like a sealed unit. It also looks like it's a combo oil and water pump so get a decent sized drip tray under the bike when you remove it.
Looks like you'll have to source a decent used unit I'm afraid - unless that bearing comes off the end for replacement.

It's supposed to be a sealed unit? Realised the whole thing does come out, bodged to fuckery and took the damaged bearing down the bearing shop, £9 lighter and a fresh unit! Note to self, they run two bearings not one. Replaced one, but the second one still turns freely/not notchy so will re-use. On down side having to go buy a new water pump seal, bastid has swolen since it's been out of the bike.#
cheers mate! Runs smooth now at least. ____________________ KAWASAKIIIII |
