Like many old SV's, mine leaks a little oil through the clutch cover. I've finally got myself a replacement, so will attempt to fit it tomorrow.

I changed the oil and filter less than 1000 miles ago, so I'm reluctant to do it all again so soon. Do you think it would be ok to simply place a catch tray under the bike, remove the cover, replace, and top up? With the bike on its side stand am I likely to lose that much oil?

You can usually get away without losing much/any oil if you run the bike onto a plank then put it onto the sidestand so it's leaning over further. You don't lose any on a Bandit with a 30mm plank

The SV has quite a lean as it is, so I could maybe get away with leaning it with a slight camber in the road?

Oh another question. I replaced the clutch cover seal when I did my oil change. Does anyone know if it'll be fine to reuse? I don't see any reason why it wouldn't.

You could just drain the oil into a clean container and put it back in the bike when you replace the clutch cover?

Its simpley undoing the sump bolt, putting it back in and refilling the oil???

You make it sound difficult

I've done a divvy clutch, gpz clutch and zxr clutch and never once drained the oil... mind you I'm never going near a sump bolt again after my last effort

Sump bolts are notorious for being a pain in the arse, and I don't trust the container to be clean enough to re-use the oil. I'll give it a go with some mega lean. How hard can it be?
