It will probably bring your Insurance down by roughly zero pounds. There 'may' be the odd company that will give a small discount, but if they arent competitive then its irrelevant.

If you do advanced rider training then you need to do it for yourself and to become a better safer rider rather than for any insurance discount.

Like you, I was thinking of doing it after passing. I put in ERS on the insurance application which made a difference of ...

£0

So I fucked it off and paid for the insurance. I will do it at some point this year I reckon, just to improve my riding

As said you should do it to improve your skills, not to lower insurance.

You don't even have a bike yet so get that sorted and get some miles under your belt. When you are comfortable with your new bike then think about it.

eBike offers me the exact same couple of £££ off regardless of whether I put BikeSafe, IAM or RoSPA. I'm not even sure that they listed Enhanced Rider. Thinking

Probably not. I don't think insurers took it up in the way that was expected/predicted by the DSA.

Ebike gave me a discount for ERS. Around £30 off, works out at around 15%.

Ah, fair dos, here's the current list:

eBike wrote:

Advanced Police Motorcyclist
Bike Safe
California Superbike School Level 2
California Superbike School Level 3
California Superbike School Level 4
Driving Standards Agency: Examiners Motorcycle Test
DSA Certificate of Competence - Enhanced Rider Bonus
MCN - Total Confidence Training
RoSPA - Silver
Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents: Motorcycle Test Gold Standard
The Edge
The Institute of Advanced Motorists: Motorcycle Test
Vision Advanced Rider Training Qualifications: Gold Standard

No RoSPA bronze, but they do list Bike Safe, which is "turn up, eat biscuits, get a You Attended This Attendance Certificate".

Actually, I didn't even get a bit of paper, so I don't bother listing it. The premium difference for me (40, clean everything) is minimal anyway.

I'll have to look next time I renew. I think the only real difference, other than location, is that I've had a full licence since the 80's. I can't understand how that might affect the bonus though? I have also completed the IAM but the discount was significantly less if I use that instead of the ERS.
