Hey BCF

I've got a TomTom sat nav cable feeding under my tank to the handle bars, keeps it neat Thumbs Up

However whenever the cable is not is use, it just sits above the forks hooked on one of the bikes cable tidies.
Can anyone recommend a cap or something I could fit to the cable end to prevent it getting mucked up/ wet for when it's not in use?

I remember seeing custom sized dust caps that you could slide onto the cable, then screw the other end of the cap up.
But Hell if I can find them any more Evil or Very Mad
Something like blutak crossed my mind, but with the heat I can imagine it melting inside the pin.
Hopefully I'm not the first to come across the problem Laughing

Cheers

Ok, after checking around I have found two possible solutions because everyone seems to be at a loss in trying to find such a solution because many forums bikers are wondering where can they be found?

End caps for mini USB

The link where it came from where they discussed mcgyvering a plastic film by creating a hole big enough for the cable to go through and sealing the gap with electrical insulation tape, and then all you have to do is open the film cap cover to expose the plug then plug it into your GPS device. It's certainly a cheap way of doing it?

If it's a mini USB, maybe get a panel-mount USB socket and mount it on a plastic somewhere in the region of the cable. When not in use, plug the cable in.

EDIT: Although it would probably be more elegant to have one of these sockets wired into the bike then plug the cable into it when required.

Useful solution. Does the screw thread on that come with a cap fitting or is it just for the securing nut?

So when not required the socket would need a cover. Or do you think can you get away with a dummy short lead with a plug then? (I'm thinking vibrations may cause it to fall out).

Cheers for the suggestions guys Thumbs Up
Ideally I don't want to go down the route of fitting another socket or another connection onto the bike.
The plan is to run the standard TomTom cable from a 12v socket, with no other joins.
However it has given me an idea.
If I can get my hands on a female micro usb port, I could cut away the cable and make a case out of it.
So when my sat nav is not in use, I could plug it into the dummy port keeping the connections clean Thumbs Up

Thanks again
