New brake pads - low speed grind

Sbs road/race sintered pads

Just fitted new pads. Discs are good. High speed braking is fine, lots of power. Low speed braking it judders and grinds. Pistons and seals are good.

Part of the bedding in process?

Any ideas?

Yeppers, bedding in.

Drill out the vent holes in the discs.
They fill with brake material and shit which can produce the squeal you mention.
I don't think new pads actually 'bed-in' that much. They only have to wear the shine off.
I've removed new pads after about 100 miles and not really noticed much 'bed-in'.

Brake cleaner on the discs too.

Drilling out the holes is a Main Dealer fix/advice BTW

The vent holes in the discs are fine, all clear. Discs have very little wear, aren't grooved etc.

Just ridden to work and it's still doing the same thing, done about 50 miles now.

Almost feels as though the pads are loose in the calipers, or the actual calipers are loose (I've checked, everything is as it should be).

The pistons are all equally protruding.

I'm baffled! I'm even going to check my head bearings this evening although they feel fine too.

I'll give it a go and I will also bleed them through and check the head bearings. The front wheel bearings are new so it can't be that.

Is there any type of spring plate that you might have got in back to front? any shims behind the pads? And if so, did you stick a blob of coppergrease on it?

Ive had this happen before, but it cleared itself up as the pads bedded in.
