Alright, I'm looking at swapping out my 600 engine on my hornet for a cbr engine as I've heard it's quiet a popular mod, but was wondering which year cbr900rr engine would be best for a 98' hornet??

Not without a lot of work. Ask again on www.hondahornet.co.uk or do the sensible thing and just get a 900 Hornet instead.

Why not sell ur hornet, then add the extra money you would of spent on a fireblade engine on a hornet 900 or an actual fireblade?

A Fireblade with Renthal bars on would be the best option.

Better suspension, better chassis. 900 Hornet is slow and the engine feels nothing like a Fireblade lump.

Well my 600 engine has given up so I won't get much for the bike anyways, I love the hornet so would rather just change the engine then buy a new bike. Plus I can't afford the insurance on a bigger bike anymore due to points.

Don't put a bigger engine in your bike then as you won't be covered under your insurance, leading to more points / ban. Or declare the modification and pay significantly more than to insure a standard 'blade.

When you get an insurance quote, to be legit, you'd have to declare it as "modified". When asked for a description of the modification you'd have to inform that a 900cc engine is fitted.

Some insurers will give quotes for modified bikes like Bikesure etc. but due to the limited number of insurers who will quote for modified bikes, it is harder to get a good deal.

For example, comparison sites like mcncompare, gocompare etc. won't quote for modified bikes as its hard to accurately quote for an unknown quantity.

Therefore to get a quote on a modified bike, is back to the old fashioned method of ringing up the insurers one by one, going through details, declaring mods and trying to get the best price.

I've been down this path before - its painful.
