Checked them how?

Do you have no dash lights or anything?

Have you checked all your fuses? (including main 30A fuse).

Bikes dies then nothing works. Hmm, a tough one. Thinking

Have you even considered checking the voltage across the battery before you start pulling things apart?

trace the positive wire from the battery, it should lead you to the main fuse or fusebox.

Think it should be at least a 20A.

When *nothing* works it's sensible to rule out poor earth connection first.
Easy way is jump lead onto neg terminal and some bright metal part - any sign of life or clicking?
If no jump leads, you could use any old bit of wire to get an idea - with the jump lead it would probably even start.

Wait - did they even *have* kill switches then? This '87 bike of mine hasn't.

Sometimes its simple as that! Ive not had my ninja running now for over 2 weeks. Spent £60 in parts still nothing. Only to notice that the clutch switch had broke and the wire had fallen out! plugged it back in, and low and behold. Bike starts! Embarassed
