 |
|
So I'm in the market for a new Lid, the old one fits well enough to be safe, but leaves strong impression marks in my face and hair most of the time, even after short rides.
The problem being my ENORMOUS head.
Any recommendations for the large of cranium?

Ooo! Specialist subject that one.
At work we keep an Scorpion EXO900 flip-front in a 2xl - it is available in a 3xl however im yet to find a customer the 2xl doesnt fit. Airfit on those too so you'll always get a perfect sizing to your head shape.
Also consider Icon Airmadas. Icon offer them into a 3xl, and show a chart of liner thicknesses and cheekpad thicknesses so you could get a perfect fit. I opted for XS cheekpads on an Xl lid as they were 5mm thicker for a better fit on the front of my face. Heavy as a small moon but i love the graphics options! Really well ventilated too - ideal summer lid. ____________________ Please be aware that the above post may be full of complete nonsense.

Shave all (the rest) of your hair off.
'Rattle can Enamel' your whole head (the colour of your choice).
Glue your old visor over the front of your face.
The PoPo won't notice anything untoward.
Put a little gold sticker on the back for an authentic look.

my HJC is a 3XL.
I must have gone into 9 local shops when looking for a helmet, I had phoned 6 of them and they all said "yeah, we'll have something to fit you."
they didn't ____________________ it is impossible to lick your own elbow...

The XL airmada uses a 25mm cheek pad as standard.
You can drop those down to 10mm (so making it 3cm wider across the whole jaw area. Then it's a case of sizing the skull liner to suit - but the XL upwards is the 4th shell size.
The scopion, i reckon by the sounds of things you'd best go for the 2xl & leave the airfit deflated to make space for the jaw. I've seen people tell me that they feel comfy in one who physicly couldnt get their heads into xl sharks. But i'd be tempted to get a 3xl and use the airfit to take any excess slack out of the front if your a half size out.
Certain shops might try and charge you more if you state that you think it might be more - however they're all exactly the same price from our supplier. Different cheek pads are likely to cost you £15-£20, so wont cost the earth to swap out & dont forget to barter a bit on price! If they wont knock anything off the price of the lid - what will they chuck in? Free fog spray? Visor? Lid cleaning kit? Pinlock? Etc. ____________________ Please be aware that the above post may be full of complete nonsense.

Have exactly the same problem. It turns out that i'm closer to a 3XL than a 2. Any shops I visit mostly stock up to XL and can order in bigger ones especially for me to try out. Great!
The only lid i've found that fits my head is a Duccini D701. None of the other Duccini models fit, even though they are also 2XL fit me.
I'd love to get a nice bluetooth one or one with some better features but my big noggin prevents me ____________________ Gone: Haotian HT125-8 / Yamaha YZF 600R Thundercat / Kawasaki ZX9R C2
