Done a search but as per usual the BCF search facility was taking a dump at the time so I'm just gonna stick this up. Not had any problem with my standard Chinese knock off levers other than the pivot holes wearing slightly which I'm going to fix by pressing bushes in. But searching on Ebay quickly turned up these new levers that I've not seen before, apologies if this is a repost.

So what do we think? Part of me thinks for the cash should I just bin my old worn levers off and get another set. I love the black and blue it would look well tarty, however I'm not sure I'd want to be trusting the skinny sliding extension of the front brake lever when I'm hauling on it down a back straight somewhere at 130+

What does the BCF massive think?

Typical caveats apply; it's probably fine from a construction standpoint, since I'd imagine it all comes out of the same factory complex, but undo all fixings, and check them over.

After all, it's not like they'll cost the earth, is it?

Looks like stainless fastenings. That gets my vote. Get some jewellery scales and weigh them:

Had similar to those but in red/black on the GSXR750.

The allen bolts are cheese and they do not fold, too loose and they wobble, too tight they cannot possibly fold.

But yeah, definitely cheese bolts, fucking tiny allen key on the extender too, tried to extend mine with the correct size tool, rounded off and had it stuck as a stubby.

Not the adjustable ones, but similar

Brake was fine, clutch I'm struggling a little with. Somewhat loose, a lot of vertical movement. I'm going to check it over tomorrow. Check the sleeve as mentioned.

I have cheap Chinese levers, they seem fine and fit okay.

Mine were also free due to Sneakyness. Wink

I got some off Ebay for £16 - Cheap and Cheerful. Looked good, nicely made, fit like a glove. Crashed in 'em and it chipped, but cheap enough for me not to mind and I will get some more soon. Can't knock it for the price Thumbs Up

Stop being tight and buy a proper set of pazzos, you get money back on them if you decide to change your bike later (selling separately)

There's no real justification for spending that much money on levers, especially when you can get similar, if not identical for a fraction of the price.

I have Pazzos on my R1, which is a nice bonus, but like fuck would I pay for them. I'd rather have OEM than chinese ones now though Laughing

Bought my last set on eBay from trackday spares for £90, sold them after I sold the bike for the same. Won't be able to get money back on the chinky bean tin levers.

I don't need to make my money back because I didn't get ripped off buying them in the first place. Laughing

Most people will lose more selling Pazzo levers second hand than I will spend buying Chinese copies.

I bought these non-adjustable ones for my bike a year ago: https://www.speshul.org/random/gpz/levers.jpg

Cost all of £26 + shipping, they fitted quite well and the only difference I noticed was the profile of the curved / cam part on the brake lever that actually pushes against the master cylinder. Compared to the original levers the aftermarket one has a slightly thinner profile which translates to the lever moving further in before the brakes start to bite.

They're not bad overall I guess, I looked at the adjustable ones as well (at the time they were just coming onto ebay at around £75 a set) but I couldn't see any reason at all to buy them.. I can't think of any situation where I'd really need to alter the length of my levers on the fly, either you want short levers or you don't surely?

Careful with aftermarket leavers...

Some time ago I was on some private land doing about 130/140mph and went to slow down as I realized that I was going to be coming to the end of the private road and approaching a piece of public highway where the speed limit was 40mph - obviously I needed to adjust my speed accordingly to comply with the law.

As I went to touch my front brake lever it just fell off and pinged down the track forcing me to loose best part of 100mph of speed with a combination of rear brake and engine braking. Interesting situation to be in. Obviously being on private land there was no other traffic which was fortunate.

But moral of the story... I will never buy cheap aftermarket leavers again and would warn others so.

wouldn't that be down to your lever pin being iffy or loose though rather than the lever being the issue?

Or did the lever snap in half? Thinking

Those are the ones I've got fitted, my clutch is the same a bit wobbly up and down. I think its because the hole is a bit too slack so going to give them both to the machine shop across the road and get them fitted with proper pivot bushes, should be quality then and still cost a quarter of a set of pazzos!

See, that just tells me that you didn't do the bolt up properly, not that the lever was defective.
