 Posted: 16:19 - 08 Jun 2013 Post subject: Indicator out, not bulb - relay? CG 125 |
 |
|
My front right-hand-side indicator is out; the other three work (although the rear right flashes faster), and I've swapped bulbs to confirm that the bulb is OK.
I'm having difficulty locating a new relay as the one on the bike (2005 CG125) has three pins and the ones on ebay (including the one I bought - doh) only have two.
WHilst I source a new one, is there anything else I can try? I've picked the indicator over a bit to see that it's all connected to the bulb fitting, and WD40'd a bit, to no avail. Is the relay a safe bet?

either the earth wire to the indicator is broke,or the live ,usually from inside the headlamp shell.
Indicators that have been bodged or removed, can sometimes suffer chomped wires, especially if the budding bike mechanic has 'screwed them in '.....hence twisting the wires which makes them rub on the indicator metal work.........check the headlamp inside for the indicator wire and make sure its not come out of its connector,or is corroded.
a multimeter is fun, time and money saving and easy to learn basics if not a techy sort!!!!.
ps ...check the bulb bases and fittings for corrosion. ____________________ nearly a normal tax paying tosser.......with ferrileness suzi100,cg125,cb125scb100n,cb175,cd100,cj250t,kh250,c15,125 bantam, super 6,rickman gs750,xt500,250rs,dt175,lifan125,dolomite1850,metro,Morris220ld,morrisfg,leyland princess, range rover, corsa,vw camper .now struggling with legs.
