This thing is really raging me out. Laughing Just refuses to run. I've probably had it running okay once since I got it.

Its using dirtbike type pod filters. (not the k&n ones but the foam ones).

I've replaced the coils, checked for a decent spark, new plugs, fresh fuel, etc.

Now I've even messed around with the carb mixture. First at 1 turn out, then 2 turns, then 3. Makes no odds.

If i wack the idle down low, It will cough every revolution of the engine, so coughs loads and tries to start, add throttle and it kills it, same with choke. Add more idle and it just coughs once every now and again and sounds like its struggling.

Whipped the carbs off and its getting fuel into the engine. Tried putting the tank on prime, still nothing.

So strange.

Laughing I would hope so chap! I'm pretty sure they are. Left coil I believe goes to outer cylinders and the right coil does the inside. Also pretty sure the wires are in the correct coils however it's something to check.

Thumbs Up

Pete, that's a very generous offer, I've stripped and cleaned them as best as I can and set the float heights to what I think is right. I'm going to borrow a friends set of carbs first (if he doesnt piss me about) and if that works, I can chuck them your way (maybe ill chuck in a bag of sweets alongside them Wink )

cheers. Very Happy

I have just adjusted the mixture screws. I haven't touched the jets. In theory it should still run, just run badly until rejetted correctly.

Your Bandit will never run properly until you remove Kawasaki from your signature line. They are sensitive about such things...

You're finding out that the B6 doesn't like alterations pod filter wise, there's quite a few tried the different ones, ramair, K&N etc and never been able to get them running right and gone back to the airbox even after dyno time, some have succeeded but I don't know what the magic formula was Confused .
Dunno what it is about them considering the comparative ease the other oil cooled motors - 1200,750s etc can be sorted.

Where were you when I needed you 2 years ago Laughing must have had mine on/off 15 times trying to get my fueling right and it still wasn't perfect when I got rid (went through 2 banks of carbs as well due to torn diaphragm & seized jets).

Yes Bandits can be an absolute pain to get running right, best advice I can recommend personally is to return everything to stock if you feel its been changed (Jets, Needles, Filters, Mixture Screw turns etc) then start from scratch with what Suzuki recommends till it runs right.

Anyway some spec which it sounds like you may need (all factory settings for Mk 1 Bandit 600 which is what you have from pics I've seen)
Pilot screw settings - 1 7/8 turns out
Float Height - 17.00 mm (give or take 1mm)
Pilot Jet - 35
Jet sizes - Cylinder 1 & 4 = 98 Cylinders 2 & 3 = 100

(Shit I almost remember some of that off by heart, that bike killed my Summer 2011......*starts having flashbacks akin to Vietnam Vet.....*)

Agree with what Bezzer says about the 6's not responding well to filter modifications, a friends has been running perfect all last year and throughout the winter up until now when the sun comes out and he thinks he can get a few more horses to enjoy the summer more by fitting pods + re-jet now it spends most of its time as a triple or even a twin despite following recommendations, meanwhile another person with a 1200, according to him pods + re-jet was effectively plug in and play.

Fix the non-starting before you tackle the running issue. Pod filters in themselves won't stop the think from starting up but they might make it run crap.

Does it start with friend's carbs fitted?

Right, will get carbs off friend tomorrow hopefully so will update.

These are the filters its running. https://thumbs1.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/mgsD0eNBVYuhGx_1Q4pMCjg.jpg

I have also covered each one in a thick sock to help choke it like an airbox. Laughing

So tomoz evening I shall rip apart the carb system and check what jets I'm running.

I honestly hate suzuki's. My kwack wouldn't do this to me. Laughing

Thanks. Interesting site! Going to get those carbs tomorrow and will update. Hopefully I'll just have to upgrade my pilot jets/main jets.
