As soon as i turn the ignition on, on my bike the temp gauge needle shoots right up to the maximum and i have no idea why does anyone know what could cause this please? thank you

Disconnect the wire from your temperature sender. If that stops it going off the scale then it's a sender issue...if it still shows full scale deflection then you may have a frayed/ trapped part of that wire which is earthing out

well my dad disconnected a lead/wire from what i think was the head? and the gauge went down and then when he connected it back on it went straight back up so which part do i need? the bit that screws into the head? thanks

Yep, sounds like a faulty temperature sensor. Shouldn't be too hard to replace. Thumbs Up

I believe its not that hard to find due to some of its parts are shared with other later or newer model bikes.
