Hello all!

New user here so first off a massive hello to you all!

I've just bought a "new" bike. It's a 1982 Honda CB125 Twin. It had a blowing exhaust which I've fixed with nice new gaskets and bolts/nuts.. I also gave it an oil change as well as new plugs. It runs really well for its age. Quite nippy too for a little 125 twin.

Can anyone help me ID the exact model of bike as I'm not too sure? Is it a CB125T? CB 125T Super dream? It's had some rather rubbish spray job at some point in its rather long life so its not in its original colours sadly... It did have the red HONDA badges on the cam covers which they have painted black. not sure if that means it's a super dream or not?

I know these bikes don't go for much but I only paid £50 for it Smile I think its a pretty fair price really. I love honda's I've had a Honda XL125 Varadero a Honda CBR 125 and a Honda XLR125 all of them were fantastic bikes!

I currently own a Kymco Pulsar 125 (naked model) it's an ok bike but it rattles alot and isn't nice to ride. I love Honda's and I've always wanted a bike that is older than me so this was an ideal buy.

Looks like a Superdream to me, although I'm sure Teflon-Mike will be along to rant ad infinitum about it shortly. Brace yourself, that 'massive hello' of yours is about to get reciprocated in such a way that you won't be able to see straight for a week.

Thanks chaps! That's cool! What exactly is the differance between the CBT125T super dream and CB125T or were they all super dreams? Sorry I'm not familiar with these models at all. Laughing

Here's my current ride:

https://s20.postimg.org/6lwcianvh/IMG_20130708_151116.jpg

A very nice bike really some people would think I'm mad going from a 11 plate bike to a 82' but I've always wanted a older bike and the Kymco rattles abit and vibrates on the handlebars which drives me nuts.

I've modified the exhaust on the Kymco so its stubby, sounds really good for a little 125.

can cost a feckin fortune to fix the rear suspension linkages, I haven't enquired since 1996 but back then it was £150 just for all the bushes

Ouch! I will keep that in mind Mad Is that for the monoshock model as mine is a monoshock model.

I also noticed earlier that some idiot has decided to remove the air box covers and filters Mad Mad Mad Mad

Any idea where I could source these!?

I was considering putting some open air filters on as a quick fix but the air filter box actually holds the battery in place. Also I do like to keep things standard...

Why do people do these silly things Sad

Definitely! It was only run very briefly earlier so I could check out the riding position and see how it rode. its been parked up since. I've got a friend who apparently has another friend with 2 of these sat in his garden so I should hopefully be able to go see him and grab some much needed parts!

I can't find an air filter box/cover anywhere. Sad So him telling me that is abit lucky really! Thumbs Up

Yes very true Sad I've had the carbs apart they are mint which is good.

There was also no debris inside the oil that came out of the bike which i would think is a positive sign? Smile

Only thing with the oil - particularly if its been sat a while you'd ideally want to warm it right up before changing as it aids the movement of crud from the engine, but obviously running it long enough to warm it up would need the air filter in place etc first, so may be worth a second change - good to of at least cleared out the oil once before a good run in either case anyway.

Yeah the paint job is terrible Laughing but no can't be this one this has been in a local garage for some time owned by some guy who went in to MOT it and they said it was abit of a state so he bought a brand new bike instead.

I then said i was interested and asked the bloke how much he wanted. Which was £50.. ta muchly! Laughing Bad paint job aside... its a very solid bike. I gave him the cash on the spot. Thumbs Up Laughing

Such as the 250, 500 and I think they did a 750 superdream.

I passed my test on a 125 superdream many years ago, I loved it.
I remember paying £295 for it back in 1985 and my bf back then made 2 wooden L plates, the front was fastened between the forks with jubilee clips & the back one was fastened below the number plate. I also wore a Freddie Spencer replica helmet Smile Oh the memories Very Happy

I've known a pair of tights be stretched over air intakes to make make-shift filters on smaller engines, not sure if they'd do the job here.
