Saw this on fleabay, and thought "ooh, nice and rare." Popped a bid on, and won Very Happy

Looks like I'll be a busy boy, what with this and the Kwaka to finish.

There's rare and good... and there's rare. That one is just rare.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

That and the self destructing gearboxes, top and bottom end problems and iffy fuelling.

It was the bike that almost killed Honda's reputation for reliability, the only good thing about it being, they withdrew it, completely re-engineered it, then relaunched it as the VFR, one of the best bikes Honda have ever made.

I was under the impression that they spent a great deal of money fixing the faults on these for owners? Now i'll go and find a source for that Laughing

edit: Turns out this is not what you think of as a VF750: https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?p=2637579#2637579

It's definitely what I think of as a VF750.

I stumbled across a forum for them a while back, the workshop section was full of threads saying "Does anyone know how to stop (insert your choice of catastrophic failure)".

Most common answer was "No, not really".

I believe they did throw lots of money at them, but all they succeeded in doing was moving the problem a bit further along the time line.

Ignorance is bliss sometimes Very Happy I knew it was pretty rare, there's only 18 on the road and not much more SORN'd.

If it's a complete doughnut, then it's only £200 for a shedload of parts, but no doubt I'll learn loads from playing with it. Mind you, the seller hasn't responded to my mail yet, so he might just decide not to sell after all.
