Shouldn't be done, I know, should be relayed.. I know Laughing

But, I'm currently powering my alarm, a 12V cigarette charger thing and a voltage display so I can monitor the voltage of my battery on the go.

I know I shouldn't wire them direct incase I leave them on etc but is there any real danger, aside from my shit layout of wires that will be sorted tomorrow.

and the cool voltage thingy...

Can this be done a far neater way, i.e single connection to battery for all 3 rather than me bodging it like that. Would prefer a solid single one on there.

personally if it was me i would put one larger cable, then split that off into the 3 you need, each with its own inline fuse holder.

but that comes from a few years of taxi wiring, and that stuff was running almost 24/7 for years

Hi

Fuses should be as close to the +ve as possible. As the section between the +ve and the fuse is unfused and a short there won't blow the fuse.

All the best

I wired my Voltage reader thingy into the back of the clocks, seemed to give a more accurate voltage than running wires from the battery. Also has the benefit of being switched and less wiring.

:edit: You changed your name! I'm so confused!

It is wired to battery so I can detect when its being fed more than it should as I'm expecting reg/rec failure

Probably find it cheaper from noodle land, but I needed it fast and UK stock is always faster Laughing

There's no problem with stacking clamp rings on a battery terminal - lots of bikes had a smaller ring on the negative for the loom. You just make sure the starter earth and feed are at the bottom of the pile so you don't pass heavy current through a lightweight ring.

mines wired to an inline switch then housed in a polymorph plastic casing and glued to the top of my dash, wired direct to the battery, seems to work very well

This x100. It's important to remember that fuses don't protect devices, they protect the cables that feed the devices. Thumbs Up
