I've managed to talk the missus into roughing it a couple of nights when we travel up to Scottyland next month, so I'm now in the process of looking for a compact tent/ sleeping bags etc.

For the tent:
https://www.millets.co.uk/activities/104730-karrimor-ultralite-2-man-tent.html

Anyone every used one of these? £50 is pretty much the limit of my budget as we still have other things to get before we go.

Haven't got a clue about sleeping bags yet. Something that can be compressed tiny that will still keep you warm at night.

The luggage space we will have will be a be a Givi Maxi top box, Oxford First Time soft panniers and a fairly large expandable tank bag.

It looks good, it's probably something i'd be interested in for my bike trip as I'm looking for a compact tent. The only concern I would have is the make 'Karrimor'...

Two man tent = two midgets.

You want a three or four man tent.

I never understand why they rate tents at bigger sizes than they can practically fit.

On the flip side, my fishing bivvy is rated as a 1 man, yet you can comfortably fit 2 bedchairs and all your gear with room! Rolling Eyes Its a shame the damn thing weighs about 15kgs, or I would just take that!

A medium sized tent is not much bigger than a tiny tent when packed up, it's not as if the weight matters much on a bike.
Don't forget there will be other stuff you will want inside ideally when it's lashing down outside Shhh!

Measure out an area 130x220 cm on the floor. Both lie down in it.

That is the MAXIMUM outsaide dimensions of the sleeping area in that tent. As in, if you're touching one of the edges of that area, you're leaniong against the side of the tent. It actually tapers in towards the foot end too.

Get a down sleeping bag. They pack up very small and are nice and warm. However they wont keep you warm if the down gets wet Thumbs Up
