This was the bike when it was originally bought:

As mentioned, loved to have rebuilt it and rode it myself, but really can't justify the time, nor keeping it after Sad.

I miss my KR1S! Crying or Very sad
Had to sell it after a crash, wasn't too badly damaged, just cosmetic really, but circumstances dictated it had to go.
Hope you get it up and running, I'll be watching!

JP's KR1?

It ended up at mine for a top end rebuild, but the bottom end was gone as well. Then the crank turned out to be bent when it was sent for rebuild.

Took a long time to get one, then I broke my leg and moved away from home and the poor thing just sat there for years. I don't think John has had the easiest of times either.

Anyway have you got the ignition keys? I found a set yesterday when I was having a clearout and I'm pretty sure they're for that bike.

right a bit more progress, engine is in, power are all connected as they should be tank is on, oil is in gear box but it doesn't hold water as i didn't bother with a new gasket on the water pump housing. will sort that soon. all it need before starting it, is the keys, petrol, an exhaust stud and antifreeze, will sort a new stud out tommorow hope fully aswell as the gasket, can get petrol when ever and keys should be here for wednesday, then its time for the fire up.

arent you happy with the nsr300? and yours will be a hell of a lot tidier than this will ever be tbh.

plan is to get it mot'd then strip it back down next winter and do a proper job as ill soon be wanting to be out on it.

it is now holding water as it should all it now lacks is keys and an exhaust stud and fuel (got that already)

I am very happy with the NSR.
It looks really good and goes very very well Thumbs Up
The RGV is almost finished aswell Exclamation pics to follow soon

KR-1S is a super rare bike. Have seen a few on different forums but never in the flesh. The power figures for the KR-1S are very impressive. Puts all the other 250's in their place!

Keep up the good work Thumbs Up

well i lost motivation with it due to the gear box, but i now know what was missing. 3 collars that go on the selector forks to take up the slop on the shift drum, will be ordering them tomorrow.

You can remove the gearbox while the engine is in the bike as its a cassette type, l messed up my gearbox after a rebuild on mt KR-1S and it would go past 3rd gear, take the clutch out and removed the bolts around the output shaft and the whole gearbox slides out. Thumbs Up

right parts haven't come yet ordered them Wednesday hoping they come in tomorrow while I'm at college. just had a play with the lights and everything works, wasn't expecting that to be honest, tyres have plenty of tread left and no cracks or perishing to be seen although they have probably turned to coal, will get another set if it passes a MOT. rear is pretty squared off.

not long now want it ready for end of march hope fully ready for the summer.
