So today I got my CBT certificate to say I can actually ride a bike and not fall off and I'm safe !. Please to say I am very very happy.

Made a minor/major mistake depends on how you would see it :

Forgot to switch the indicator off after coming off a roundabout, Instructor told me its easier just to press the indicator button after every turn.

Only question is as I will be keeping the 125 until I am 24.
So : Aprilia RS4 125 or Yamaha YZF R125. Are they the exact same or different ?.

I'm a high end tart though.
Seriously thought about it - the insurance is roughly the same.

Why? You can get on a real bike when you're 19.

CBR125, put the savings into a jar marked "A2 license".

I lack the confidence at the moment to think about my a2 but iv always liked sports bikes... I'm thick so it doesn't help when I need to do a theory test, main reason is bike is cheaper than a car but will get my full car before I go for my full bike.

Instructor talks sense. Get into the habit of checking your indicators after every turn, and even as part of your standard glance at the speedo while you're riding along. It's the easiest mistake to make and potentially one of the most costly, so make it second nature to check.

My noob 2 cents regarding indicators .....

My YBR125 has fat boring blob indicators with wrap around lenses and they're great because you can see them when you're sat on the seat. That's good because you get to see when you haven't cancelled them in your peripheral vision. Then you get into very good the habit OF cancelling them.

Then you don't need to worry about what has become 2nd nature.

what about when OP gets a different bike and he can't see whether the light is flashing or not!?

my only advice is to clear the indication before you change gear. It can be a costly mistake to make forgetting to cancel them. Imagine turning a corner, for example a left turn.. you indicate then turn left and forget to cancel the indicator... further up the road you can either turn left or go straight ahead... the car waiting at the junction sees your indicator light and pulls out thinking you are turning left and you then either smash in the back of him or luckily avoid him.

moral of the story? TURN OFF YOUR INDICATORS! Thumbs Up

I always place my thumb over the indicator button just prior to turning, then part of my 'turning routine' in my mind is to press it once straight and return the thumb to gripping the bar - very hard to forget if you do this i find as your mind is thinking 'why arent i holding with my thumb again Thinking '

Guess that may not work for everyone though depending on hand-size etc, wouldn't want to do it if it compromised you holding on properly Whistle

i can vouch for the unforseen danger of leaving indicators on.
did this recently - within 100yards of setting off on my commute. turned right, forgot to switch it off. moments later down the hill, i get someomne pull out on me, i lay on the horn, wonder why (when i'm in full sight) they pulled out - then i get to the junction at the bottom and realise my indicator is still on.....

this was an issue in my CBT - but i'm getting much better.
turning off after every turn is a good tip to make sure its never on more than it needs to be.

it was a scary mistake to make - purely because it happened so easily. but luckily it happened at slow enough speed for me...

I'm crap at turning off indicators too, trying to drill myself to press the cancel after every turn and check on every speedo glance.

Buy a cheap 125 and save for a big bike and your tests. Your confidence will grow quickly with practice.
