I know this is a bike forum but I thought I'd ask you guys as you're probably knowledgable about this sort of stuff.
How much should I expect to pay to have my rear windows tinted - if I supply the pre-cut sheets myself?
Just trying to save a few quid, I have the set, all legal and everything - just some co pansy near me reckons it's an £80 job.
(That was supposed to say "just some company", but I'll leave it as pansy I think)
I mentioned a bike mechanic'll take my bike to bits and back again in two hours (£40 p/h), then got a response saying how they have to "clean the windows properly, heat shrink the cuts to fit the concave of the glass" etc.
Basically I'd happily clean my windows myself and shove the sheets in the oven for a few minutes to save a few quid! Is £80 (2 hours) a realistic price, or do you reckon it should be closer to £50 (my thoughts). ____________________ Left the forum. |

Can you do it ?
Nope, therefore it should cost as much as someone who has the skills wants to charge for you to get the benefit of them.. ____________________ "I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me." Hunter S Thompson

Yep, that's why I'm asking for what other people may have paid / expect to pay call it research instead of just idly paying whatever anyone asks. ____________________ Left the forum. |

I tried to do this.
I failed.
It's hard to get right £80 sounds about right, seeing as that's what I'm looking at paying out for fitted shades for my car instead ____________________ Past - 1988 honda revere 600, 1996 kawasaki gpz500s, 1999 Yamaha R6

£40 p/h sounds very bloody reasonable to me.
Are we talking three windows, or are there separate quarter lights as well?
Either way, fitting window tinting film is no easy job, especially on a window with a heater element printed on it; as someone else said, it's easy to do badly and it will look totally gash.
If the guy knows what he's doing, cough up and get it done right. ____________________ Things get better with age; I'm close to being magnificent........

Normal pricing for an average size car is £120-£150 for the 3 rear windows if they are supplying the tint
So if your supplying it And the price is £80 it sounds good to me
Wouldn't do it yourself, it's an absolute pain in the ass job! ____________________ KLX 300r |
