Hello,

Where can I get some tubing of the above spec? Only need a very small length (25cm or so).

Cheers.

Possibly useless as it's only 3.25mm instead of 5mm, and it's stainless.

Perhaps the seller can get hold of what you need, though?

What do you need it for?

Can't think I've ever come across steel tube with a wall thickness of 5mm yet only 25mm OD. That's heavier gauge than red banded high pressure piping.

What sort of application demands those sizes cos if you can move a little it'll open up a lot of possibilities.

It's for making some swingarm spacers for my GSX750. The swingarm has needle bearings in it and steel bushings; the spacers pass through the bushings and bearings and the swingarm pivot shaft goes through the middle.

Might be misunderstanding you, but you should only have one spacer which fits between the two bushes ... the spacer is to hold the bushes out to the correct distance while you tighten the swingarm bolt.

Sooo, 5mm wall steel tubing is probably overkill ... 3mm would be more than enough, as would an ally tube (like most spacers these days).

To centre it on the shaft all you'd need to do is slip a bit of 1mm cardboard or plastic into the spacer to hold it in position while you feed the shaft through and tighten it.

Have fun Smile

Possibly - here is a pic of the bearing/bushings and the pivot shaft:

So the spacer is to 'fill the gap' between the shaft and the bearings/bushings.

You can get aluminium tube in those sizes but it isn't a common size so you're going to pay. You'll also find it difficult to get anything other than a 5m length from a supplier.

I'd ring around every engineering firm you can and ask if someone has an offcut.

Or just order the actual part. Wink

Can you not bore out some solid to suit? I have seen some seamless hydraulic that was about that size but it was a long lime ago.

This might be the best option, but I don't have a lathe. Can probably get access to one though.

https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/steel-rods-bars-tubes-hexagonals/4478924/

We needed some similar spec at work - we brought a length of this and got a local engineer to bore it out - he did it for about £20 IIRC

If you are struggling I maybe able to get him do to another one for you - that said any small engineering firm will be able to do it for a small fee.
