Ok, so I recently bought a 2000 derbi gpr 50. Everything on the bike right now is the way I bought it. The bike would idle at about 5k when I got it, and it should have been about 1,900. After running it the first time, I noticed the carb leaks. So I took apart the carb and cleaned the gunk from the float so it wouldn't stick. I put it back together and now it wants to redline right after starting the bike. I usually shut the bike off at around 9-10k rpm, but it will keep trying to go higher.

Additional info: I have pulled the air filter and I can see the slide is positioned correctly, so it is not the slide or the throttle cable. I can see that when I twist the throttle, the slide lifts and closes properly. I have also unscrewed the idle adjuster all the way, so it is not that. I tried to adjust the air mixture, but now the bike struggles to start and still runs the same.

I found the stock carb should be 19mm. Everyone recommends upgrading to 21mm if oyu have performance parts like the custom exhaust on the bike. I found the carb on the bike now is a 32mm carb. There was dirt in the jets that I celaned out when I took apart the carb. How can I tell if the carb is just too big? It is a no name carb with no size markings on the jets, so I would just replace the carb before trying to reject.

Please help

you will prolly have an air leak past the carb intake manifold.
