Hi
Just took a bike in for an MOT today.
Examiner says they have just received new instructions on motorcycle exhaust (received yesterday), and they are now to be check on the examiners opinion of how loud they are. Doesn't matter if they have a BS stamp or an E mark, if they are louder than a standard exhaust in reasonable condition then it is meant to fail.
Also numberplates are now to be checked as part of the MOT.
All the best

They are getting stricter all the time. I can't believe all the rules we have and then you go to places like spain and see scooters been ridden around with no bodywork on at all and no lights! Most countries haven't even heard of an MOT. |

At least it is down to thier own judgement, as it is possible to get some exhausts which are classed as a race can, but do not have the marking on them and so would fail an MOT at the current time even though they're not loud or whatever. Will mean some places become known for being more slack and will let race cans through as long as the shop is not busy at the time or whatever.
It's good to see that number plate are now being taken into it, as the MOT is meant to test road worthyness and they don't class mini plates as road worthy do they for some strange reason .
Well it's stuff making progress and the situation being updated as lots of people are just getting those stick on BS or E marks to put on thier race cans to MOT the thing.
Will be interesting to see how this actually starts to work, and you can bet they'll be doing spot check on places to check that bikes which should be failed are actually being failed.

My Yoshimura Cyclone can is not e marked, nor does it say 'not for road use' but every one knows there illegal. Where do I stand now? Is it legal or not? Also there is no baffle in mine |
