Hornet 900: Went from a 125 to the hornet 900 and almost shit myself the first time i went out. Tons of low down power which keeps up right to the indicated 130mph i hit on a private road, then bottled it. Feels stuck to the ground at all times. Great handling, reliable. Only let down is the small tank. Biggest regret is selling it...tried to buy it back recently but the guy wasn't up for it.

CBF500 ABS: changed to try and save some money. Worst decision of my biking life. CBF500 is a brilliant commuter but struggles on the motorway. Vibrates a lot, and feels unstable at high speeds. Good for in town but anything over 50mph and forget it. To slow for overtakes. not for me. 200 miles to light

SV650: 2000 S version. Great bike all round. Low down power, does over takes with ease at anything <=80mph. Suspension sucked balls if you pushed it too hard but strangely i still felt planted to the floor at all times. I had the faired version so i wasn't a massive fan of the riding position or clip-ons but it actually felt comfortable on the motorway. Prefer turning circle of naked bikes. Very narrow bike, tuck the mirrors in and you can fit through any gap. Engine braking really suited me. Will probably go back to a naked 1000cc v twin in the future. 125 miles to petrol light. Build quality isn't amazing but take of it and you'll be fine.

Current bike, Hornet 600: Low down power is lacking, exhaust noise is annoyingly screachy. Vibrates at high speed and feels unstable to me. it's handling is great though. Small tank again. 100 miles to reserve. Haven't taken it above 80mph yet as it feels unstable and vibrates. 100miles to light. Don't really like it so far.

Favourite bike is the hornet 900, loved everything about it

Conclusion: anyone want to swap a hornet 900 for a 600? or a naked SV650 for a hornet?

Strange how you've went for similar style bikes and went up and down in performance/cc. Don't you get bored? I can never get the same type of bike i've had previously, just feels shit to have a bike that feels the same but a bit faster.

What about the ducati monster 1100?

Just get an original 'blade. Same motor but NOT castrated. That'll make you sit up and take notice.

I've had my Hornet 600 up to an indicated 145mph whilst laying on the tank and it felt fine (on completely public roads of course).

It also doesn't vibrate and feels stable up to a pretty decent speed if sitting upright as usual. Laughing

Maybe yours is brokeded?

Early ones vibrate between 6 and 7k, its an emissions thing. It shouldn't be that bad though, just buzzing through the pegs, not anywhere else. If you persevere and power through it, it gets better (honestly officer I have to go faster).

It shouldn't feel unstable either, mine would shake its head getting on the power but never actually felt unstable; they are generally pretty planted.

I agree with Reed. Yours is broken. Check the usual stuff like head bearings, wheel bearings and wheel alignment.

Mines a 1999 and I haven't noticed any vibrating between 6 and 7k, oh well I guess mine is just super amazing. Very Happy
