Original has got its value, streetfighter does not and looks awful, mostly.
So, original or nothing, I even hate 80's, 90's and even 00's bikes with LED turn signals. ____________________ '87 Honda XBR 500, '96 Kawasaki ZX7R P1, '90 Honda CB-1, '88 Kawasaki GPz550, MZ 150 ETZ

How much paperwork do you fancy doing?
The frame and its VIN is the bike. If you do it above board then you'll scrap your frame and registration and start over with the reg number and V5C that goes with the new frame, even if every other part is from your bike.
You should to tell DVLA about the engine swap. T'intardtubes suggests that they may or may not want to see an engineer's report (e.g. from an MOT station) confirming that, depending on their mood.
As to making even pennies back, consider that the best case is that you'll be selling on the frame and reg that you're looking at buying. Once you start advertising it as "Yehbut the motor is from a year X bike and despite the previous MOTs recording Y miles on plate A, it's really done Z miles on plate B..." then any sane buyer is going to click "Next". ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

I bought a G model, 98 running with everything bar a radiator for £300. £400 at the start of the shit season is a no go.
For everything bar frame and engine, ~£200. They won't need all the bits anyway |

Taxed and tested naked F model sold for £600:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/kawasaki-zx6r-streetfighter-/171109387426
Add in mot and tax and £300 + £250 parts and you're talking breaking even compared to just selling (and yours won't have the wide bars, bags or as good lights - and those lights aren't good, I'd budgeted about £25, so second hand enduro style lights that are one step above a tea light with a mirror behind it.)
£731 for one with fairings and tax and test.

If you've got too much money and fancy burning some while working on a bike; go for it.
Otherwise, accept that what you've got isn't worth much. |
