Righty ho.

Trying to change the front brake pads on the bros, but have hit a little problem. Got the old pads out fine no problem, but when I put the new pads in, they almost touch and there's definately not enough space for the disc to go in between them.

I've tried to push the piston thingys back in with wedges of wood and all sorts, but they refuse to budge, if i get these to go back in there'll probably be enough room for the disc and new pads.

Any idea on anything I can try to get the pistons to go in? Open the bleed nipple maybe?

Thanks for any help.

Is it a 2 pot sliding caliper?

If so, force the pistons back in with a G cramp.

Well if your sure that you have pushed them hard enough. When i did mine i had to push them in pretty hard...

Dont push them in quickly, only to the ammount you need...

Not sure how else, cant say anything else condifently enough .

Ummm, it has 4 piston thingys in total, 2 on each side, no idea if it's sliding or not, whatever that means!

Shall I force the things in one by one with a G clamp then?

Hi

G clamp does work quite well, but make sure you push the pistons in straight. Take the cap off the master cylinder to allow the fluid back, but take care that you do not get a fountain of brake fluid from it.

You can buy things to push the pistons back. Try Partco. Only trouble is that I have only seen ones designed for cars and the blades might be too thick to fit into the caliper.

All the best

Keith
