Anyone gone from a CBR600F to a 636 Ninja?

Am contemplating replacing the troublesome CBR with something else and the ZX-6R Ninja keeps appearing in the searches.

The CBR is a 97 bike and the ninjas seem to be around the 2000-2002 mark.

I use the bike as my only mode of transport, so commuting (no motorway), weekend blasts, trips up and down the motorway to see parents/mates etc. basically, a daily bike.

I know that the Ninja is more of a focused bike than the CBR but just wondering if it would be a bad choice regarding how it would be used.

How long is your commute?

Sounds perfect for what you described. See if you can get an 05-06 636, not much difference in price, but definitely the better machine.

Pretty solid reliable bikes.

Only 4 miles each way, but I'm a lazy bastard

I'm going to go look at one this week if I can make time to. See if it 'fits'.

Pre B1H (2003) zx6r have quite a tame riding position, probably ideal for what you want.

That's not a 636, and going from a 600F to a B1H 636 you'll notice. Going from the CBR600F to the above, or an A1P you won't really.

Sorry, I realise that it's not a 636.

Does look tasty though.

I'm not after a bike that's gonna be a huge difference to the CBR as I do like it, but I'm thinking of cutting my loses with this bike!

Kawasaki everytime. You won't notice much of a difference between them but you'll realise immediately that the Ninja is a much better bike

The 2002 would be a 636 - same motor, but no FI in the older chassis.

A bit better bike, but not massively so, I'd say.

Been on a b1h and own a c1h, both brilliant bikes for the money. I doubt youd notice the difference all that much to be honest some people say theyre more track focused but ive found mine comforable and confidence inspiring on road. I'm 5"11 and have used it for everything from touring and weekend fun to commuting 2 hours and 5 minutes.

Only downside is the extra 36cc i never use adds a bit o' tax

Yeah id say it feels a bit more 'refined' than the b1h, but thats only going by 50 miles or so on one so maybe just teething problems adjusting to it

I have one of the very first zx6r's, mine is a F1 model, seems like a reasonable bike to me, I don't use it much, below around 7k it's very tame and unexciting, use the box and the revs though it's a rocketship, handling is nice and predictable, squared off tyres though make it feel a bit weird. I would expect to pay around 800 to 1200 ponds for a reasonable one of that year. I paid a grand for mine last April , it had only done 22k and had a full FSH.

The F models are fairly equivalent to the CBR he has now.

J1/J2 (599cc) and A1P (636cc) are comfy and look like this. Still light and capable during trackdays.

B1H (636cc) is more track focused and harsh on longer journeys...

If I wanted an all round bike with 600-700cc engine then I would probably pick A1P over B1H. If I wanted a bike for a track I would go for B1H.

All J1/J2/A1P/B1H will be quicker than CBR600F but not by much. If you want something quicker then probably GSXR750 will tick all your boxes.

As we're all discussing all models, and not being biased at all , the C6F is by far the best bike imho.
