PostPosted: 21:53 - 18 Dec 2012    Post subject: After six years....i got my bike back... Reply with quote

in early 2006 i bought my first (and last) new bike...a triumph daytona 675...happy days...

https://homepage.ntlworld.com/gavin.prior/675/6751.jpg

Eleven months later, some twunt knocked me off it at cadwell..

https://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y264/gavinandwendy/675/it1_9961SMALL.jpg

so i went to have a chat with him. when the police let me go home i took it to bits and this is pretty much all that was left.

https://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y264/gavinandwendy/675/baredaytona.jpg

every panel smashed. frame bent and cracked, forks bent, yokes twisted. i took it to tony at t3 racing who sorted out the frame, and then, due to the arrival of two more babies to a vicious, non coping missus....it stayed like that for the next five years.

i was so dejected with it i didnt even cover it up, and over the years it got covered in thick dust and layers of bird poo from sparrows roosting in the roof. at least i had the prescence of mind to stuff the inlets and the exhaust and pour oil down the plug holes..

during the summer of 2011 i became free of the abusive, self centred, neglecting, hoarding spendathon that passed itself off as a wife and mother.....and started getting back to my life..after about 14 months of rescuing the house from her destructive influence, i was able to turn my attention to my bikes...

i dragged the remains of the daytona into the van and shipped it off to North City Triumph in romford, where i originally bought it...with several boxes of new parts that i'd rush bought a week or so after the crash from a contact at the hinkley factory..

about three weeks ago, and a little over a grand lighter in labour and misc parts, i got it back...

Long time coming, but you know what they say about the past.

See you when the sun is out. Happy Days... Very Happy

I've often thought about this,

If someone knocks you off on the track, is it just tough tits?

But nice one on building the bike back. Thumbs Up

What happened with the well deserved breaking of that twats nose? Did you have to go to court over it in the end?

all the greif at home kept me out of the garage for YEARS...I'm still too busy...there are still things left to deal with in the home, financially and practically, she's still persuing me through the courts with false allegations regarding the kids...and as i'm a single father there's still not enough time for everything.....i mapped out my free time against the time i needed to build it.....i reckoned it would take me six months...the estimate the shop gave was 800 quid...or about £4.50 a day against my time....making my own sandwiches and taking a flask of coffee to work every day would save me that....a no-brainer really...

yeah, i'm sure it goes back further than 2000, too.

in this case, my use of it is entirely correct. he was riding like a twat all day, and when i went to speak to him he behaved like a complete cunt....his attitude was, "i'm a lot bigger than you, so fuck off" to which my response was, " yeah, well...my reactions are faster than yours... and my reach is considerably longer than yours, dispite our difference is size... *THWACK!*end of discussion. Not losing 100 quid and potentially getting a broken nose from Op - so if he did powah, kazam and snap the arrogant ' big ' rider, then fair play to him, even if he is a twunt Smile Cool

Nice story and very very nice bike. Glad your life seems to be taking a turn for the better. I will never let anyone stop me doing the things that make me happy, luckily I think I've found a woman who doesn't mind me spending my life obsessing about bikes. Laughing

Note to self: If you ever own a bike worth lots of money, don't take it on a track unless you are rich enough to fix it!
