Hey, got an issue with my Idle, It should ideally be at 1k or close to it, I'm having to set it at 1.7 because at 1k it just misfires and cuts out most of the time.

Also it misfires at 1.7 ish aswell and just sounds unhealthy.

I've driven the same model and it sounds and acts so much more smoothly then mine.

And I've also driven a GS500 which runs at 1k fine.

Here is what I have adjusted to try and fix my idle problem apart from one thing which I am in the midst of doing. (Air filter)

Exhaust valve set to factory, and the fuel mixture screw adjusted to factory standard, the idle screw adjusted to the problem.

New exhaust(Stock) (Not adjusted to the problem, the one I got with it had holes in it...)

The one thing I haven't changed is the air filter, now it still has the original in there, I've ordered a new one because I'm stuck to think what else might be causing this issue, but any advice on other possible problems could help me a lot, thanks (Air filter should arrive by Monday and I will let you guys know if it helps).

Cheers.

Are you sure the mixture isn't just a base setting? They usually say start off with that then adjust it yourself due to the different environments the bikes go to i.e high and low altitude, hot and cold countries.

Does it try cutting out when you open the throttle when its idling where its meant to?

Have you checked the spark plug? The colour of that will give you an idea of if there's a problem with the mixture.

When I got my bike it had a high idle set cause the mixture was wrong.

Or the spark plug itself is worn out, replace a new one first

Well it was turned out a lot more when I got it and it actually run better from what I can remember, (Fuel mixture) perhaps I should turn it back, the Air filter needs replacing anyway.

The thing is my spark plug was replaced and had the same issue, how can I work out how many times to turn the mixture?

Yes, for example if I put it at 1k revs and throttle it just cuts out, sometimes it stays in there but can a wrong fuel mixture turn be the cause of misfires?

I've got the exact same bike. The idle mixture needs to be set a lot richer than the setting in the manual. It can be really touchy, especially in cold/damp weather since it lacks a proper choke. I've got the idle set around 2-3k to stop it from stalling.

Mix screw all the way in, get it so it just grips without forcing it and back out 2 full turns then 3/4 turn.

Get bike warm, go for a 10 minute ride, set idle to 1350rpm when you get back.

I've set my fuel mixture to 2.75 turns out and it starts every time now, and idles like a beauty! Very Happy

Thanks for the advice guys!
