Hello, in a matter of days my motorcycle has gone down the shitter
When I was driving to work a few days ago my rev limiter started flickering about all over the place and was at times wasn't responding to anything (staying at 0rpm) whilst I was driving, after a few minutes my bike completely cut out. It wouldn't start up at all so I bump started it, had a complete loss of power and everytime I come to a stop it cut out even with my clutch held in.
I got it to work (just about) and it wouldn't start at all after that, so I changed the battery for a new one as it was losing power when put under pressure and it started to work fine.
Then... To add to the fun it happened again whilst I was at my mates house yet this time when I throttle it hardly responds to it. Bearing in mind my powervavlve jammed shut literally two days before all of this.
Any suggestions to what my problem is? I realise my carb is probably a bit blocked to start with, could my powervalve being jammed shut cause this? Any help will be appreciated. Thank you. |

Sounds like the winter weathers cabbaged the electrics causing the plug to foul. Either way theres an intermittent electrical fault. ____________________ Please be aware that the above post may be full of complete nonsense.

Hi
So the bike ran increasingly badly until you changed the battery which fixed it for a while then it degraded again.
Sounds like the battery isn't charging (and I think a decently charging circuit is required on a later RS125). Stick a voltmeter over the battery. Should be ~12.5V with the ignition off, ~13.5V with the engine idling and ~14.5V with the engine being revved.
If you don't get readings like that then most likely the problem will be the regulator / rectifier, or the wiring to it.
All the best
