it will bump,but the power dies at low revs, it will pull and rev in the top rev range, i have fitted a new plug,

Well, the starters on these are shit anyway Laughing So might be needing one of those.
Does everything else work, lights etc? What happens when you press the button?

Hows your battery? Sounds like it might be dead or weak.

Should be 12v when the bike is not running and 13v or more when running. The voltage should not drop much when trying to start, if it does then its weak and you could try charging it or replace it.

the charging system on these bikes is shit, pre 05 bikes go through rectifiers like two stroke oil. In fact i might have some spares that would be of use to you.

first things first, what year bike do you have?
and do your dials die untill high revs?
try screwing in the idle screw, the middle big screw, see if that helps.
post a picture of your old plug too please?
