Hi I have been lurking around on this forum for quite a while and have just decided to register to such a wonderful forum (Y)

I have just purchased an 07 Peugeot Speedfight 2 50cc.

The bloke says it is de-restricted, has a race pipe(leo vince TT) which is also de-restricted and has 6.7 gram Leo Vince race rollers- But only goes 42mph on the flat.....Surely it should go faster than that? I have pm'ed him and he says he weighs 12 stone. What are your views on it guys

Thanks in advance Thumbs Up

I would say it should hit 45mph.

Sounds to me like the exhaust is still restricted. Mine will do 42ish and I've still got a restricted exhaust.

You'll have to take it off and see if there is a washer welded in the exhaust where it meets the head.

Piece of piss to get the exhaust of Speedfights though. 3 nuts in the seat bucket, 2 nuts where the exhaust attaches to the engine and 2 allen bolts where the exahust bracket attaches to the engine.

The bracket may be different though, I'm going off what a standard speedfight exhaust has.

It's very unlikely to be that. It would never reach 42mph with the variator restriction in and the exhaust restriction out. Max you would reach would be about 33-35mph.

Thanks for the replies guys...When i collected the bike, the small tube thing from the exhaust was in a bag.. with drill scuff marks on it which he removed from the exhaust and also the 10p sized washer was in a seperate bag along with the old rollers. So i asked him why it only does that speed he had no idea :S

Could be to do with the roller weights but I'm not much of an expert when it comes to the weights.

lighter weight rollers are for acceleration and heavier rollers are for top end
i have an aerox with deristricted exhaust, deristricted variator and 2x 3gram rollers and 1x 8 gram and bike has loads of both acceleration and top end and flys round the clock and does about 60+

That's not true. I don't know which weight would be best but I know that rollers will never increase top end. You could get lighter rollers but because it's keeping it in the powerband increase top speed and acceleration.

The different weights of rollers are so that it can keep the engine in the powerband. When you change the exhaust the location of the powerband changes so the rollers have to be changed too to keep it in that powerband.

Your Aerox doesn't do 60+, it's impossible unless you have a 70cc kit and a gear up kit.

the rollers could be worn. i had a 05 speedfight 2 and its top speed was 50mph and its acceleration was very good (for a scoot) i was changing rollers every 2500 miles, but i must state buy genuin peugeot rollers! i tried others ones and i had some even melt in the variator. peugeot rollers are 8grams and they are the best settup, do not even change the springs in the clutch.

heres a vid of mine, (sold now) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4bfC5OioucQ

oh and to add, it had leovince TT, 0.80 main jet and a K&N style. standard are 0.50 main jet

You do realise that running mixed rollers like that will bend your crank.

You can run different rollers providing they are even. i.e.

5g, 4g, 5g, 4g, 5g, 4g.

Rollers will not affect the top speed, they will just affect how quickly the scooter gets there.

Please stop giving advice on something you clearly know fuck all about.

i think there slow bikes in general (no offence) its probably just set up badly, get some one who knows what there doing to play with the set up for you, unless you have the cash to splash on getting it set up on a dyno (no point at that stage of tunning)

The best thing to do it to check if the variator is rectricted or not you can tell as soon as u look at it when u take the cover of. Also check the exhaust that may still be restricted. It does sound like your exhaust is still restricted however if you revs are still restricted you may as well de-restrict ur cdi as well
