 |
|
My Pinlock got all hot and bothered yesterday morning in the cold and humid rush hour.
I knew the problem was the way I had fitted the insert to my new visor and that moisture had migrated under the silicone seal and was now condensing on the cold inside surface of the visor.
I punched Pinlock into my Internet terminal/Human Interface Device and got the Dutch company's web page with all stuff about fitting and fixing them.
No mystique.

Enjoy. ____________________ W-ireless A-rtificial L-ifeform L-imited to O-bservation P-eacekeeping and E-fficient R-epair |

I would go as far to say probably 90% of pinlocks fogging up are down to fitting error..
And the other 10% need taking off and a good clean ____________________ Fuelly My Z1000SX

definitely needs to be sealed all the way round no gaps dirt even deep scratches will stop the seal.
I get a little thumb size mist right at the bottom other than that its really good. ____________________ Fuelly My Z1000SX

The best thing to do with Pinlock's is to fit them - and never take them out.
They eventually become weak and dont seal how they should. The more you take them out and re-fit them, the faster this happens.
A new pinlock fitted correctly to a clean visor should last for a year without misting. ____________________ CBT Aug '03 ... Gilera GSM 50 ... Honda NSR 125 Aug '04 ...

The pins in the visor only allow you to fit the insert correctly one way.
They are contoured to accept the insert, so if you find your insert fogging up due to a poor seal, try turning the pins and make sure they are correctly aligned. Fixed mine in my old lid ____________________ Bike - 2003 Kawasaki ZX6R 636 Ninja (A1P) |

YOU ABSOLUTE STAR MAN, LEGEND IN YOUR OWN LUNCHTIME.
I just thought my Pinlock had warped or something as it was not sitting correctly on my visor.
From the link you posted I see that I am being a total Beaker and had not set the pins on the visor correctly (did not know they were adjustable).
Result, no more fogging, no more cold nose, no more squinting.
Cheers matey, have a virtual pint on me
