Over the Easter break, dispite the relatively nice weather, I only managed to get out on the bike a few times, but every time, I had a close call from our four wheeled road users.
The most in one trip was a catalogue of incidents.
Pull out onto a roundabout to nearly be T-Boned by an Audi
Riding along a straight bit of road and had a van pull out from the oposite direction, trying to over take into the front of me
Overtaking a line of traffic to have a corsa pull out whilst I was along side him
Clear bit of road behind a toyota to have it slam on the breaks so that she could answer the phone
And finally, going through town to have yummy mummy (or she seemed to think so by the look of her fashion choice), push her pram out into the road to stop the traffic so that she could cross
Some people really do need to have a bit of observational skills implanted at birth.
As it happens, all avoided safely with adequate ob's and a bit of shouting.
Still here to tell the tale
Stay safe out there guys, they are all out to get us

Surely if you were giving way to the right, this would be impossible?
The sun does seem to bring out the worst in other road users though. I can see there being a definite lack of wing mirrors on cars come winter |
That is the point, he was not givin way to the right and pulled onto the roundabout and nearly collected me in the process.
BTW, when they get too close, a subtle size 15 boot to the door does wake them up a bit ____________________ 2002 Rieju RS2-50 (Sold, spares or repair), 2010 Suzuki DR-125SM (Traded for ->), 2007 Honda CBF 600 (Sold), 2010 Suzuki V-Strom 1000 (Briefly, now returned), 2007 Suzuki Intruder 1800m (Even More Briefly, traded in for ->), 2014 Suzuki V-Strom 650 |

At the end of the day we all mistakes cars, bikes, cyclists, lorries the list goes on. As long as you can stop in the distance needed and beware of tits at junctions oh and the famous "obs" should be fine. Ride safe buddy. ____________________ Bye bye Z hello Versys |

Quite frankly anyone that describes drivers as 'cagers' needs a wake up call..
We all know there are some complete utter divs on the roads, the best thing to do is try predicting them, better observations.
I'm sure we could make countless threads on car drivers being utter tards, but unfortunately i's a fact of life
Try not to let it get to you and get out of harm's way. ____________________ 07' Honda Hornet now full powaah! My guide on performing an oil change! |

Oh God, here we go again, summertime innit
American 'riders' seem to be responsible for the term 'cager' - what a ridiculous way to describe the 90% of people that we share our great road system with. The concept that anyone not in a 'cage' is 'free' is flawed at the very least - especially in November in the pissing rain...
That does indeed sound like the average days riding - difference being that I try not to let it bother me any more, no point in getting stressed about it
Don't forget, everyone makes mistakes, bikers included (I'm fortunate enough to live on the Dorset coast, so I see a lot of summer bikers making a lot of silly mistakes!) - give em space and move on with your life |

I think that half of the problem is bikers attitudes towards car drivers! I have come to this idea because in the recent weeks when i've been driving my mum's car, every single biker I have come across has ridden like a complete wanker! tale gating, bullying me into moving over, nearly having a head on collision with me when overtaking etc etc. I'm almost embarrassed that I ride a bike.
I can quite see why "cagers" are so nasty towards bikes, as proportionally, more bikers seem to be idiots than car drivers. I do however think that a dozy, phone using car diver is a reason to get pissed off ____________________ Hyosung GT650R |

Might I apologise for any offence caused by my referring to car drivers as Cagers, I was under the impression that this was the accepted term for such people (myself included) when not on two wheels when indicating them on this forum.
I stand corrected and shall refrain from using the derogatory and obviously offensive term again, now that I find myself enlightened and suitably chastised.
I appreciate that as a relatively new member of the motorcycling fraternity, I have a lot to learn about, along with 25 years of bad habits picked up from driving to rectify, although I do pride myself on being able to read the road ahead and anticipate the actions of other road users.
That said, I was merely attempting to point out that I had previously not encountered so many blatant instances of very poor driving/road use in one short journey and whilst I would not say that I am a perfect driver/rider, far from it, I do like to think that if there were another road user in the space I was wanting to occupy, I would ensure that they were safely clear of that bit of road, before I attempted to make use of it.
I trust this meets with the approval of all offended parties and reiterate my apology

No offence taken here
The accepted term for these users of four wheeled transport is generally "WANKERS"
This can be modified with a number of extraneous exclamations / ejaculations dependant on the circumstances in which one finds oneself... |
