Karcher leaking oil and water :(

My Karcher K2 series is out of warranty and leaks oil and water. I think the water leaking issue is probably something simple like changing out an elbow joint. However it also leaks oil so is only a matter of time before it goes pop if I can't resolve this.

Has anyone experienced a similair issue with a K2 or similair Karcher and is it worth trying to locate and fix the oil leak?

A new one is only about £100 here so if you can't fix it yourself it will be binned - eventually.
The small Karchers are nothing special for regular use.
Look at Nilfisk next time maybe.

Have come to the conclusion that Karchers are pretty terrible, lots of online comments saying the cheap Chinese ones are better and last ten times longer. Mine has had fairly light use for a short period and is probably scrap......

Had one of the older karcher steel bore/liner home jet wash machines for very occasional use...lasted 15 years to be fair however ( no cheap alternatives back then) but having replaced it with a cheapo nilfisk I was more than impressed on how much quicker it does the patio/ gutter cleaning and not to mention blasting the baked on crap off the KDX after a day off roading or beach riding! All for £65 if it lasts a couple of years it's paid for itself already! So if you have no joy fixing your current machine it's not a great loss to replace

Very useful for saving weight - I managed about a 10kg in total weight saving on my CCM with 30 minutes work, maybe! And yes, verified with scales etc.

its the chinese qinhongchin version of the yamaha r1.

it has a output shaft on it where you can attach a food blender, a whirlpool bath pump drive, a garden fountain or a patio washer.

one of the best bikes ever made and can be bought brand new for around 100 squids!. Shocked Laughing

Have never left it out in cold weather, I just think these Karchers are poorly made and there are a lot of people online with the same issues. Some people have returned under warranty and the "new" Karcher they have received back has leaked oil straight from the box!

I picked up a Nilfisk one that was listed localy on eBay as "leaking water". 'Only had to replace a couple of seals and modify the pressure switch and ended up with a fully operational 99p pressure washer Cool


They are fine but people don't care for them.

If they leak then the head is cracked, same for it pulsing when on standby.

People leave water in them which freezes, causing the head to crack or the very few metal bits in there rust after being sat in water for 3 months since it was last used and causes expansion or the pressure releif to seize, drag them around by the pressure hose, causing the head to crack or knocking them into things or dumping them in the shed with pressure on the outlet, again causing it to crack.
Molded plastic units don't spontaneously crack when left in a shed in suitable conditions, something causes it.

I have a load here as i repair them if i ever get the time but have one main one i have used for years, always empty the water, sometimes spray a little wd40 in there but otherwise left to freeze in an old unheated shed.

Anyone near salisbury need a cheap one, working, get in touch
