Just got woken by a loud bang. Go outside bikes gone over. Shouldn't have put the cover on.

Now.. I can't for the life of me get it back upright. Having a right mare!!

Tried the crouching at the side and rocking it back up but no cigar. No fucker around to ask for help

*** edit: read another post saying its bad to leave it on its side

If it's dropped on the opposite side to the side stand, flick side stand down and get some heavy duty rope, attach rope to handlebar and pull it up?
Just a quick idea off the top of my head, probably a shit idea to lol

Have u tried contacting family or friends? If u have with no joy, order a pizza or call a taxi or something along those lines maybe even if u have breakdown cover they could possibly help, may be worth saving the headache of trying alone and to just pay for the minimum £7 delivery of a pizza and then youve got a pizza and your bike up!

Edit: On the basis that the pizza delivery/taxi/RAC man etc helps Very Happy

Sorted. My dad came round. Not too much damage. Bent brake pedal and a bit of a paint chip. Seems fazers withstand falling over fairly well. Made a Fookin loud bang though

What bike do you have? Apparently in Japan they use to have a test that a person had to be able to lift a bike that has been dropped on the floor.

IMO this should be implemented in the UK perhaps.

I remember dropping my bikes quite a few times when I rode on grass and none were ever hard to lift. Hmm, I thought maybe you were a female (Not being sexist I hope) but it seems the replies from others, you're a man!

I think it is mostly a case of knowing that you can do it. The first time I've tried to put a few heavy bikes on their centre stand I've got 90% there an decided it's impossible. But once i manage it once it suddenly gets much much easier to do again.

The easiest way to pick up any bike is to do it from the front end whilst someone else does the back. They don't even need to be big or strong to make it much much easier.

Most bikes can only blow over in one direction, so have that direction either facing the wind, or up against a wall so the bike can't blow over.

Brake pedals seem pretty soft and can often be bent back into shape with a vice and a hammer. New ones aren't stupid money either and are easy to fit.

Girls tend to have (proportionally) good leg strength, but it's definitely a technique thing. Come to think of it most of the times i've picked a bike up have been immediately after falling off it. At which point the adrenalin is usually pumping and giving me the type of superhuman strength you usually only get when drunk Laughing

Hope mine hasnt bloody fell over. On my way to work tonight and had to leave it chained to a post due to what seems like water doing me over on the electrics and walk the last mile to work.

Was worried about mine blowing over last night too. Just checked it out though and its still stood up but wind ripped the cover off and took rear L-plate with it. Bonus.

Don't envy anybody who relies on only a bike when the weather gets like this - my car was getting blown around pretty good on the drive home last night.
Stay safe.

Same thing happened to my Hornet last week. It was against the wall, but I had the cover on, wrapped around the stand to keep it tight. I think the wind caught it, pulled back the stand and toppled the bike. No damage though.
