Hellooooo

Seems when I use the foot brake that the brake light stays on. If i sort of push down on it a bit and side the foot off so the lever sort of springs back up, the light turns off. I've wd40d anything and everything around the foot pedal and it's not worked. Anything else I can try?

There a spring which hangs down to your pedal which connects to the brake light switch, a black kind of cylinder shape. These can be adjusted by screwing in and out, effectively allowing you more room to press without the light coming on or the other way.

Take that out, give it a clean up and adjust so it's right.

Just replace the switch mechanism. They cost about £5...
