Last time we had a wind storm my bike got blew to its right hand side and suffered a broken mirror and some scratches.

My question is that if it happens again would it be stupid to leave it on its side till the wind passes? Or could it do damage?

Got a car to the left of it but might put the wheelie bins on the other side.

Also does the cover help it being knocked over as it gets full of air?

Thanks,

I try to strap mine down now... Laughing Laying on its side, I'd tend to grab it from the floor asap.

It can fluid lock if oil manages to get up past the rings so I wouldn't leave it lying on its side for too long. If it's been lying on its side for a while, safest thing is to either bump it over backwards or turn it over with the plugs out before trying to start it.

If it's very windy, I usually lean it against a wall/hedge/lampost in gear. Lean it a fair way over, I've known a bike (an SV650) actually blow over the top of its sidestand before today.

My bike almost got blown onto its side today. Unfortunately, I was in the fast lane of the M5 at the time....

Vara was blown over the little wall on the path, H100 has at least "some" wind protection where its parked. Laughing The TL was tied down to the floor.

It's probably aware that no amount of fall damage will harm it more than your tender ministrations, so can't be bothered.

Oh, must check tomorrow to see if the frippet at the end of the road's Triumph has blown over again. Bit of manly rescuing, roguish wink, she'll invite me in to fiddle with her baubles... Praying

Hopefully it will be all right as its down a side road and usually has cars parked either side of it... Plus it survived when that big storm came in some weeks ago. Also it's leaning the same way the wind is blowing, that should make it harder to blow over as it would have to overcome the stand. Got nobody I can ask to pop round and check it! Sad
