Ello BCF

This would normally be a quick question for the almighty BCF search button, but it doesn't seem to of come off it's Holidays yet Rolling Eyes

Planning to clean/service/destroy my front and rear brake calipers on my SV. General winter maintenance & to get rid of the squeaking noise from the front pads.

I missed this step last year, so can anyone recommend a good copper grease for the BACK of the brake pads? Alot of people on SV650.org seem to believe this will stop the noise.

Also, are there any other caliper parts I should be greasing to make life easier? I usual clean the pin and rub it down with sandpaper, yet the picture above looks like it's been greased aswell Neutral

Any additional help is always appreciated Thumbs Up

Thank You

I bought a tub of copper grease from Halfords for a couple of quid. That's perfectly fine for putting it on the back of brake pads. It's also good for pad pins and caliper sliders.

Red rubber grease is good for pistons too.

By the way, don't put that much grease on the back of the pad. You just need a very light smear, not a thick dollop like that. If you dollop it on then it could melt and end up on the pad surface.

secondly, I look at the coppaslip glob, and i look at the ring left by the piston, I hope he smeared the coppaslip around otherwise it won't even touch the piston.
I've never greased the back of pads and never had pad squeal Confused but pad pins always!
