Today my mate send me a link to one Czech motorcycle forum where I found this:
The bike is 748.
original link: https://www.motorkari.cz/forum-detail/?ft=152956&fid=18

They say, once it started, there's no way back. Shocked

Once corrosion gets into the grain of the metal it's not good!

my original 916 forks were exactly the same.... crumbled away.
Side note: the engine on mine was quite bad and had to respray it as well.

Well, once it started, there's no way back. Thumbs Down

If you can give it a good clean and recoating to protect the metal, you can stop the corrosion. Surface corrosion is ok to clean and re-coat, but once chunks like that start coming off, it's probably safer to replace.
