2008 with more mileage than my Varadero. Lies. Shocked

They have either listed that incredibly wrong, cannot read a speedo or have changed that engine a few times.

Yeah but if it is genuine, it was more of a question whether thats heard of and if its going to pack up as soon as i get it. Its up for £500 which is attractive rather than the usual 7-800 but not if its going to cost me more in the long run!

Go have a look, if that mileage is true it and the owner has serviced & taken care of their machine it wouldn't bother me. (or ragged it, you'll know upon looking at the thing.

I'd rather a bike at 75,000 miles that is run every day and gets its serviced and taken care of than one with 15,000 that has sat for years with every piece of rubber perished, every nut and bolt seized and every electrical connector corroded. (which ends up costing far more in replacing everything)

Mileage really isn't everything.

At worst you may want to buy new rings for your piston, maybe. They're an easy engine to work at.

I probably wouldn't touch it.

It's a small air/oil cooled engine that gets worked hard and has an internal centrifugal filter that's unlikely to have been cleaned out once, let alone the recommended 10 times at that mileage. There should have been at least 30 oil changes as well in that time.

That said, it's pushrod, there's not a lot to go wrong with it, and it's clearly been in constant use so might have been well looked after. I'd be more interested in the condition of the non-engine consumables to see how close they are to needing replaced.

But the reason that I wouldn't have it is this: the same question you're asking is going to be asked by any potential buyer. You might find it hard to shift, or have to deal with the "Swap you some Staffie puppies" end of Gumtree when selling it on.

I'd be 50/50 on it at best...

Engines are cheap to replace on them really, but I'd query the mileage.

It's a CG it will be a pile of shit, it will break down, it won't be very good, save your money and buy a ybr with electric start.

Cheers, I'm swaying towards not bothering. Have asked about the mileage but not sure I'd want the hassle, including trying to sell it. Got a YBR lined up to look at too

I don't think I'd want a CG chassis and suspension with 75K on it, even though it's not having to cope with much. I'd also be worried maybe about vibration fatigue of engine mounts and frame brackets maybe too?

As Roger said most 125cc 4stroke engines will have not been maintained well enough to make it to 75k miles, as it's the sort of bike for penny pincher's to save money on riding to work etc. It's a bit like buying a second hand builder's van. It's likely to have never had any money spent on it that it didn't absolutely need to keep it working?

That said it could be clean and tidy and been looked after by a mad CG125 enthusiast? Laughing

My mate's CG125 made it to 43k on the original engine, which would have been fixable for about £100 when it was stripped and checked over.
