Hi there, I'm having a small niggle with my BMW.

Basically it will start in Neutral, then when I put it in gear the engine dies like I just turned the ignition off, (yes the kick stand was up). It will start whilst in gear and behave fine but if I start it in Neutral then put it in gear it does not, once it dies that way it won't even turn over unless I turn the ignition off and on again.

My initial thought was a bit of a dodgy kickstand kill switch and the bolt holding the gear lever/kickstand bits on were quite loose so I tightened them up but to no avail.

Has anybody else had a similar issue with these bikes? Would it be the killswitch?

Cheers in advance.

My R1200GS fell over one day. (it was on gravel).
When sat for about 10mins to let any oil return to the sump I found it wouldn't start.
It was in neutral but still not start.
I found it would only start when the clutch lever was pulled in.

The dealer told me the switch on the gearbox was faulty (over the phone) So ordered me a new switch. I fitted the new switch and all was fine.

Look for it here.

It will be a cnut to get to. Sad
