Hi,

Maybe not that relevant but as I am a member in here and thought some people may have some information on this.

I am trying to change my wish bone bush on my car and have managed to push the old wishbone out. now for the new one , I am struggling to find a tool which can squeeze this (below) so I can then use my c lamp to force it in.
The metal parts have to contact each other that is how strong the clamp should be .

would c lamp or f clamp work ? i think it would change the shape of the bush when pressed and not perfectly round which is what is needed .

Are there any type of round clamps like pliers that I could use ?

How much bigger than the hole is the OD of the bush? If it's only a mm or so I would be tempted to put several large jubilee clips round it leaving an edge for the lead then push the bush in through the clips. Much depends on the stiffness of the outer sheath and density of the rubber.

Can say it is quite stiff and a big vice grip only managed to get it close but not lip to lip(the metal part) but the vice grip did deform it so no good

I need something that keeps it round and nice and bond together

thanks for the offer .

I did try jubilee and it did work , thank you Smile

I did snap 2 jubliees so the third one was stronger.

Going fowward are there any diy tools I could use ? any round clamps like jubilee clamp ?

By the way do you have the hydraulic press? I have the normal c lamp ball joint remover which is somehow a press but the issue was on how to squeeze it , how would you do it ?

How much does it need to squeeze in - presuming there's some cross over and an angled surface, I would expect it to squeeze in.

Also have a press, so welcome to use it if you're this way.

SO would you just press it in and that would squeeze it ?
wouldn't that bend the metal ?

i changed those bushes on my bmw 728 , the proper tool is a good few hundred Sad

i bought some threaded rod , 14mm i think & 2 3/4 sockets & some big washers & a handfull of nuts .

1 socket must be 1 or 2 mm narrower than the bush & if your pulling the old bush out you need a socket big enough for the old bush to slide in to .

its a awkward job but straight forward enough , best to take the bush to a tool shop to get the right size of sockets .

when i did the rear subframe bushes on my e46 (which are basically the same) i used a socket on one side and a piece of 10mm plate with a hole in the other side, then some m12 stud iron and wound them together to push it in.

freezing the bush and smearing it with washing up liquid helps.

Not that I have any idea what you're needing to do (I have no clue with cars), but if whatever it is requires a press and you can get the bits to sw7 I can offer a choice of two press' if you run out of options. Its a bit closer than G or Pete. at least.
