Hi,
When jacking up a car or even the bike from centre there are some bug woods or piece of woods that distributes the weight and does not also damage the car/bike part.

What is it called and where can I get it from ?

Is there an alternative plastic equivalent for it ?

Yes, its called wood. There is nothing special about it. It tends to be whatever people have lying around there shed/garage/garden. I do have some thick rubber blocks that I use but they are not worth spending money on. I think the name is "rubber trolley jack pads".

Either go skip ratting or the local timber yard and get some pieces of wood that suit your purpose.

or alternatively cut up an old tyre but be warned they are quite tough, make good sandals, buckets and even garden tables etc.......

if using wood ( old joists etc ) make sure load is "cross grain" else they will split under load. :karma:

I've got a piece of wood you can buy for only £25 that will do the job perfectly. If you buy one, I'll even chuck in another random old piece of wood for free.

Pick up from near Newcastle
