Hi guys

Riding home today, i noticed that all four of the indicators on my ER500 (2003) were totally dead, with not even the lights on the dash flashing.

Initially thought it was a blown fuse (which it was) so quickly swapped at the road side, only to find things weren't that simple.

The right hand side is still dead, with no light even on the dash. However, when i first push the switch to the right, both the headlight and neutral light dim momentarily, as if the switch is trying to draw power.
The left hand side works fine, but only when a couple of seconds have passed since activating the right side.

I've opened the headlight and given things a jiggle but nothing has changed.
Also listened for the clicking of the relay, but can't hear anything.
Also checked the bulbs and all fuses and they are fine.

The next plan of attack will be taking apart the switch gear and checking/cleaning the connections.

I have to ask, are switchboxes easy to dismantle? I don't want to pull it apart and have all sort of components fall out and not have a clue how they go back.

Any other suggestions or ideas of what to do next would be greatly appreciated.

Also, on a side note; i have recently fitted some R&G heated grips through a direct battery connection.
I can't imagine this causing an issue, but thought it was worth mentioning as a possibility.

Thanks

Most lightly the switch give it a good squirt of switch cleaner and work it a bit
If no switch cleaner try WD40 or similar

Well, after the good old trick of leaving it be for a couple of days, and a good wiggle of the cables, they have started working again.

My guess would be a bit of moisture shorting a connection or something wriggling a bit lose.

Thanks for the reply anyway dave Thumbs Up
